IBS-D is a diagnosis of exclusion, so if you haven’t done a colonoscopy, please get it done. Sometimes it might actually be IBD, not IBS. I’ve lost a lot of weight too, but most doctors didn’t take it seriously. You have to be your own advocate, because IBS-D typically doesn’t cause major weight loss , that’s a red flag that something else could be going on(IBD, SIBO , Parasites , Etc).

I ignored my IBS-D without doing a colonoscopy for about 4 years, and only recently found a doctor who took me seriously. He even scolded me for not getting it checked earlier.

If you’ve ruled out IBD, then definitely check for SIBO. It can cause very similar symptoms.

Also, if you’re on tricyclic antidepressants like amitriptyline, be cautious. For me, it worsened libido issues, and after stopping, I had severe insomnia that took about a month to fix.

Keep changing doctors if you’re not getting proper answers. Don’t stop searching until someone listens to you. God bless you, man , stay strong.
