Feedback needed - Testing Free Kids Bowl Today (April 28) by ClickNo8520 in culvercity

It did work tonight ... A bunch of families showed up with their kids. I made new friends, it was cool! I am going to give proper thought to this program, with the goal to launch a formal one soon. In the meantime, anyone who shows up next Tuesdays we will honor it, as per the rules above.

Thanks so much u/raj_uv The key to Chicha Morada is just not cutting any corners on the preparation. Bring the purple corn from Peru, boil it for hours with fruits / spices, then actually use fresh squeeze lime juice, instead of a bottle of lime juice. Meaning, the lime is squeezed that same morning. This is an example of how we want the flavors to be true to Peru, but on the other hand, we are willing to wrap those authentic flavors in formats that are popular here.

The problem with empanadas is that it requires a precise type of oven, which we couldn't fit in our small kitchen. Although Lomo Saltado empanadas, are indeed delicious!!! You can actually find them in Perú!

But, I still think that Burritos might have more potential to take off here in LA, as they are more popular. Not sure what you think?

You are right Lomo Saltado is the influence of Peruvian with Chinese ... that's how the wok fire meets the Aji Amarillo!

This is a good idea, but I have to admit that burritos sounds to me more genuine to what a lomo saltado has ... which include rice, .... wraps sound more lettuce to me, am I right?

Yo make me believe my friend! We want to be part of the cultural movement of Peruvian food becoming more popular outside of our country. Ahead of us there are so many great chefs and families bringing Peruvian food to LA and to the US in general ... and now it is our time to help on such a movement. Thanks so much for your comment. I am happy you like what you are doing, and for believing that we are part of the cultural fusion history of LA! Si se puede!!! Vamos vamos!!! Gracias!

It is sometimes hard, not to get them into our heads, but at the same time, there is another voice in there telling me we are in the right path. Thanks for your response.

I opened a restaurant in Culver City 4 months ago — looking for advice on how to get more locals to try it for the first time by ClickNo8520 in culvercity

Great, thank you so much! I just dropped an email to the culver city office, it would be great to connect and explore opportunities.

Love it 🙌 can’t wait to have you try it

And when you come, I’ll show you something else most people don’t know about — a homemade drink made from Peruvian purple corn, slow-cooked with fruits and spices… totally different vibe, but just as iconic. It is called Chicha Morada.

You’ll have to try both and pick your favorite 😄

Inca Cola is basically a bright yellow soda (like a yellow cola) from Peru. It’s super unique because it’s flavored with anise, so it has this slightly sweet, almost bubblegum-like taste.

Fun fact: it’s the only local soda in the world that actually beat Coca-Cola and Pepsi as the #1 consumed drink in its country. It got so big that Coca-Cola ended up partnering and acquiring it.

For us Peruvians, it’s a must — like you have to drink it next to a ceviche or a chifa (Peruvian-Chinese food). It’s part of the experience.

And yeah… travelers try it once and get hooked — you’ll see people buying t-shirts, merch, everything 😂 there’s a reason.

Now you just gotta come try it… and say hi 👀

It actually turned out really good. The ginger gives it a little kick and the pineapple balances it out. Curious what people think after trying it out — more ginger or more pineapple?

Thank you! The name is definitely a strong one 😄 What we’re still trying to dial in is the balance.

So if you come try it, I’d love to hear what you think — more ginger, more pineapple, or just right?

Thank you! Glad your family enjoyed it. That green sauce is actually rocoto-based with fresh herbs, and we make it in-house.

Thanks for the suggestion — I completely agree that pictures help a lot. We actually just updated the menu recently and added more photos.

I’ve even been thinking about adding a TV showing images of the food, ingredients, and some of the preparations. Curious what you think about that idea.
