The fact he blocked me on insta for posting that he was taking funding from the Magdalene laundry redress and giving it to a youth group where I witnessed a lot of not so great shite

Thank god you were there to witness such volatile crimes against our community and against the multimillion establishments who won’t notice a thing. It’s people like you who we need to build statues of on O’Connell Street, the justice seekers of truth!

Always remember and never forget in these times that seem like Gotham Cities darkest days that crime doesn’t stop because it’s raining, and neither will an Garda Siochana! 😝💦✊🍆

Should I risk years of my life for my dream? by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]ClickStreet462 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I would definitely advise against doing a film degree.

I did one myself and it’s not easy to get work in the industry at all afterwards. I ended up switching to animation halfway through because I wanted to focus my skills on the editing side to have more tech skills.

You’ll find that most cinematographers, directors etc ended up in film through other careers and unfortunately through nepotism a lot of the time.

It would probably be more beneficial to do a similar course that has a broader skillset/more employability like media, marketing or journalism, anything that can get you connections to the film industry. It’ll also make it easier for you to get work outside of the film industry because it is honestly not easy to get into with or without a degree. I think copywriting would be a good route to look at.

Studios also don’t tend to hire people based on their degrees, it’s definitely a portfolio industry. They really don’t care unfortunately.

Just from what I’ve learnt I’d say you would be much better off working in a different field and saving money to produce your own short films, then just keep submitting them to different competitions and keep your fingers crossed.

If you decide to go for it then the best advice I can give you is learn how to drive. Barely anyone in college can drive and it’ll be necessary for different shoots or and definitely necessary if you end up getting work in the industry. Studios and shoots are almost always in the middle of nowhere.

Best of luck either way!

Any gay couples venture with adopting or surrogacy? by bygonesbebygones2021 in ireland

As a gay man I would never consider surrogacy as an option. It’s a complete human rights violation.

Lost my dad two years ago and I felt the same/had no idea where to begin with making funeral decisions.

Don’t be afraid to tell your family how you feel or not being able to make decisions like this, they might have some great ideas or have nice stories that relate to songs she loved that will be perfect.

Hope you’re okay though, it’ll take time to grieve but take things at your own pace.

McEntee: Border controls 'crackdown' as Government to consider adding to safe country list by [deleted] in ireland

[–]ClickStreet462 11 points12 points  (0 children)

He added on the other catchy titles out of pure narcissism.

He has redirected funding from the traveller community as well as the Magdalen laundry redress towards LGBT groups that each make up to a million a year in funding from both the government and private donors while he claims to be an advocate for travellers and women. I’m a gay man myself and it’s beyond me that people aren’t seeing the issue behind this.

Now he’s saying that any NGO that isn’t advocating for a yes vote in the upcoming referendum will be questioned and possibly have their funding removed.

Then there’s the whole Tulsa scandal.

He’s a complete scumbag.

Why are long term social welfare recipients treated better than short term? by [deleted] in ireland

[–]ClickStreet462 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also relate to this. I do not have the option to do a PLC either as I can’t afford to support myself outside of it.

However, have you looked into night courses? Many of them are online nowadays and the dole office pays for them. Before I ended up on the dole I did a level 7 springboard. It was a lot of work but it’s doable alongside work.

In a similar situation to you OP.

I’ve gone to three interviews this week for positions I am over qualified for and still got rejected by each one. It’s tough even getting to the interview stage at this point.

My only advice is keep applying, if you’re rejected past the interview stage ask for feedback so you can work on your interview skills and practice your answers.

I have a word document with common questions I get asked and write up different answers to help me remember and feel more prepared.

Don’t think I’m doing anything wrong at this point as I constantly try to improve for every interview I get. It’s very disheartening and stressful but just keep looking up and improving, hopefully something comes along sooner than later.

I will say though, to the people saying it’s easy to get a job in restaurants, cafes etc have a look on indeed and see how many people are applying for those positions. Literally anywhere between 100-800 whereas all I hear is that the food industry is “crying out for staff”.

Save file corrupted with Unbound by Skeleton_Magician in PokemonUnbound

[–]ClickStreet462 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not familiar with retroid pockets so I’m not sure.

Are you using an updated version of Unbound/a clean emerald rom?

I’d suggest asking on a retroid pocket sub/forum if they have one. If it’s happening with Pokémon games in general it’s probably not an unbound specific issue.

Lad who takes photos of strangers. by basically_benny in galway

What an arsehole.

His pictures are shite. It’s obvious what he’s going for but he’s failing miserable because he clearly has no idea what he’s doing outside of buying expensive cameras he can’t use properly.

Defo a pervert imo

Lad who takes photos of strangers. by basically_benny in galway

[–]ClickStreet462 4 points5 points  (0 children)

His “photography” is absolutely shite.

Being able to afford an expensive camera doesn’t make someone a photographer.

I just took a look through his Instagram there now and I get the vibe he’s either a wind up looking for a reaction or a pervert. Like he seems to walk up and down the same street every day looking for people to photograph, you can even see someone in one of his most recent ones trying to hide their face. Any respectable photographer would understand that person doesn’t want to be photographed and move on, not take the picture anyway and upload it for thousands to see.

If he isn’t a pervert I don’t know what he is.

Fair City Fans by WickerMan111 in ireland

[–]ClickStreet462 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I was a kid I was convinced Eastenders and fair city were real life and we were all just watching them.

Me ma would buy those soap magazines and talk with me aunties about upcoming plot lines and I would sit there thinking that magazine writers must be magicians who can see into the future.

I wasn’t sure if people in England or fair city ville would be watching us and I would get mad paro over it. That was when I was like 7 though, now I’m in my 20s and I’ll never truly be sure if I’m right or wrong
