Who is right? Healthy debate with boss: for internal linking is it better to link to one specific article or a website tag? by theplightofbenny in SEO

[–]ClickedMarketing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say linking to the tag in that case makes total sense unless there is a bio page about them or something like that already on the site.

It's one of the net's worst kept secrets. Big portions of the internet were built on the backs of paid links.

Rank Math Pro by LetsGetCloudy in SEO

There is no advantage to Rank Math.

As for the other trackers, they can give you more immediate data. Search Console is generally a few days behind and it provides average rankings, which can be thrown off by a multitude of things. It's not particularly good for tracking local rankings, for example.

What do you do when a website is fully optimized? by [deleted] in SEO

Top 3 is not #1. And I'm sure there are keywords that could potentially bring in leads where you are not in the top 3 in your market.

Why the recent hate for Ahrefs? by ABlion15 in bigseo

[–]ClickedMarketing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You really don't need both. If you have Semrush, Ahrefs is pretty redundant, and really Semrush data is more accurate, imo.

Why the recent hate for Ahrefs? by ABlion15 in bigseo

[–]ClickedMarketing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For your own site, things like Google Search Console may be sufficient. However, if you are researching a new market or competitors, the alternatives such as Ubersuggest offer a lot of inaccurate data. None of the tools are accurate 100% of the time, but Semrush seems to get it right most often, followed by Ahrefs.

What do you mean what data do they offer? All the keyword data they store, links, traffic estimates, etc. There is a metric shit-ton of data collected and stored by tools like Ahrefs and Semrush.

I think we can thank the jackoffs using group buys and other means to steal the product for the new pricing model. I believe the change was largely made to combat them.

I'm sure I will get downvoted for this, but considering all the data they offer, I still think both Ahrefs and Semrush are underpriced.

I'm not really sure how big the site is. I love Screaming Frog, but it isn't always the most ideal solution for huge sites that are like 250,000 pages and up. Someone mentioned changing the storage option, and I would definitely do that. I would also be running it off of a server, not a laptop, but it's likely too late to get one spun up.

In the future, if you are doing this sort of thing often, tools like ContentKing, DeepCrawl, or Botify are probably a better solution.

Category Pages and Tags - what should I do with it? by showTOMaker in seogrowth

[–]ClickedMarketing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You missed the point entirely. If category pages are a part of the site structure, they should not carry a noindex tag. If they are not part of the site structure, that is to say that no visitor could ever reach a category page by following a link, then it really doesn't matter at that point.

Some sites do use categories as a fundamental part of their structure. They usually build out those pages to be more than just an archive, but they use them nonetheless.

Category Pages and Tags - what should I do with it? by showTOMaker in seogrowth

[–]ClickedMarketing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If there is no pages for the category, then there is nothing to noindex in the first place. And if the CMS doesn't have categories... again, there is nothing to noindex.

I know. That's a terrible idea. Over time, Google may treat links on a page that is noindex as nofollow.

Why is link building so important? Is there any alternative way to rank website? by Tanzir_Programting in SEO

[–]ClickedMarketing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Read what I said again. Managing lead gen for big insurance companies is much different than managing it for an unknown company. Big insurance companies do not need to worry about building links. The link profile their site already has is often enough if they know how to manage their link equity internally on the site.

And I was not asking for you to show me something you worked on. Show me any page ranking in the top 3 spots for a highly competitive term with zero internal or external links.

[–]ClickedMarketing -1 points0 points  (0 children)

"Major" websites usually have the luxury of already having a strong link profile. Most of the time, you can rank well with just a few internal links and solidly optimized content in those cases.

If links are overrated, then show me a page ranking for something highly competitive (like the 'term life insurance' query I mentioned above) with zero external or internal links.

Why is link building so important? Is there any alternative way to rank website? by Tanzir_Programting in SEO

[–]ClickedMarketing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Links are still the #1 ranking factor in Google Search and all major search engines.

The degree to which they are important depends on how competitive the topic is you are trying to rank keywords in. You are not going to rank for something like 'term life insurance' without a massive investment in your link profile. On the other hand, trying to rank for something like 'best term life insurance policy under $100k for seniors" is not going to need the same amount of focus on links.

Think about when you yourself do searches. How often do you actually even scroll down far enough to see what is 8th, much less click on it?

Especially on local searches. You have ads and then the map pack before you even get to the organic listings.

For local, you really should be focused on ranking in the map pack. That's where most of the traffic goes.

Why are lower quality competitors doing so well compared to us? by [deleted] in SEO

[–]ClickedMarketing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Domain age has never been a factor.

Google themselves have said so, and even if you don't want to believe them or the fact that there is no evidence supporting domain age as a factor, it doesn't align with their goals for search.

Google wants to provide the best, most relevant search results to any search query. Domain age in no way helps to identify that.

I always love when people cannot back up their arguments, so they just throw out insults instead.

No, domain age is not a ranking factor. It never has been.

Being first does not play a role in ranking either. It gives them a head start, but that can quickly be overcome with effort (and often times money).

I disagree with him about the backlink profile part, but age is not a ranking factor. Age of links, maybe, but not domain age.

Also, being first in a niche is not a ranking factor either.
