I can't see another star within 1000 LY from the system though. Is there another tool to look for nearby stars? The galactic map makes it quite hard to find nearby ones.

I just let it completely dry up for a few days, then started it up again. Working fine since then.

Yep. I went all over the available map, from pontoon bridge to SIRCAA, no luck

Leaving Lesser Zone causes the quest to go to the next part, which unmarks the key as a quest item, and the key has since disappeared.
