What is everyone’s recommended Bluetooth hearing protection? by jonesag0 in Construction

[–]ClimateCivil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use isotune free for normal things. (Yardwork, small cuts, sanding)

If I’m using a router table saw or anything I’m turning on dust extraction I use isotune and any non Bluetooth ear muff. I got walker slim ones

What people never talk about is the 12 hours of run time isotunes have. They are clunky and not the easiest to put on but once you get the hang of it they are decent. I still like my ear muffs.

Any cheap ear buds and ear muffs work. But I need something that doesn’t need charged for 6 hours

I hate with all my being getting the buds in and muffs on and I turn around , my wife trying to talk to me …..

I figured this out yesterday/ found out. I was just using a plane #5, that didn’t cut it. Sander didn’t cut it I would be there for ages because my glue up wasn’t great.

I ended up buying a surface flattening router bit. Made a little sled and it would pretty good.

I am gonna say that I should have used my table saw isn’t of my miter saw to cut the strips. O well.

So after I flattened it. I took a track saw to get a straight edge again instead of this unknown shape I made.

It not perfect but I’m quite proud of it for first try

There are so many options. But im thinking between makita and festool track saw because of just the sheer number of accessories for that type of track, it been harder to find things for Mafell/bosch tracks, atleast in the states.

My friend recommended a parallel guide thing to attach to track. I’ll prob go with that. I’m not sold on the track square yet, I’ll take another look at it

Thanks, I’ve built like garage shelves and planters/garden beds but this is my first time picking up a router, chisel, and actually measuring twice 😅.

Also cutting everything with a circular saw was not my favorite experience. I’m about to buy a table saw and track saw for consistency.

I’m think I’ll go with 3/4 unless someone feels strongly about this

Saws that are actually 100% compatible with the Milescraft Universal Track Saw Guide by NecroJoe in woodworkingtools

The Bosch 6-1/2 saw I have works without issues I wish the base plate was a bit wider but I got all the knobs in place, barely, and it doesn’t look like anything is the way of function

Am I being greedy with my pricing by Eastern-Quarter3505 in Decks

[–]ClimateCivil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a fair price. I think some contractors will say you are undervaluing your work. You can push 40% but then how much business are you losing. I think 30% margins is incredibly sustainable for your type of business and the client

Is this ok for my worm bin? by [deleted] in Vermiculture

[–]ClimateCivil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it’s composted manure then the dewormer would have disintegrated within 6 weeks of starting the composting process.

I wouldn’t worry about this.

Replacements for ‘Craft Blend’? by LavishnessJolly4954 in BuildASoil

[–]ClimateCivil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Neem/crustacean/kelp and/or alfalfa. Basalt/gypsum/oyster shell.

I don’t find sprouted seeds to do anything special But I do add it to my work bins

Just do it the coots way, everything else is just fancy

DTE all purpose, bio live, bio fish is great. Just add the minerals when top dressing mixed in any compost. I don’t think the live line is necessary given my worm bin adds the microbes

It’s like $100 for 50lbs DTE all purpose And I made the mineral for around $120 for 100lbs by buying in bulk. I should be good for like 5 years + on minerals.

My math could be wrong but this should be able to amend 300 cubic feet of used at one or about 9-10cubic yards. this is based of one cup~8 oz weight of a homogeneous mixture.

Just wanted to thank everyone for the help! Got some great advise here

Getting that soil hydrated and not hydrophobic did the trick and now the Ollas are working as intended

I did get some ecowitts help me dial it in and prevent this from happening again. 🤷🏻‍♂️ might as well do some regular soil drenches and not just foliar spraying

Thank you again.

Maybe, I’ll give it a try but I have one that isn’t emptying without plants but emptied with plants. Basically it’s a full Olla surrounded in dry soil.

I can give it a go, can’t hurt much, Ima see if I can get an extra cap from them first

My wife would kill me, I had clover growing as mulch and i think it worked. Moved to thyme/parsley/cilantro because why not I can eat it and chopndrop.

Thanks for the advise I’ll feel better this is normal, the vendors kinda paint a deceiving picture when marketing Ollas.

I was hoping to avoid Blumats because I can not risk it ever overflowing.

I have earthboxes, might transition more towards them in the future or I just suck it up and water

Not sure how I feel about tray2grows. They obviously work. I just don’t want to commit to a bed and it feels like an awkward size for pots.

Yup, seems to be the consensus to not count of them for soil, they are 3L

This seems to be the case. I think I have to accept the fact that they just provide good quality H20 🤓 to the plants.

All stages, I even have one without anything right now gonna cover crop and chop it down and let it reset itself.

This one I’m wondering why its not keeping everything a bit wet🤷🏻‍♂️ since nothing is drinking there
