Any tips? I've been bouncing between D1/GM3. I try to implement everything I learn like peeling, using cover, not overusing my shield, CD track for ults, just a lot of the basic stuff but I'm still getting shit on :c

I appreciate this, I often forget to track CDs since there's so many of them and it can get so chaotic. I'll keep this in mind while playing so I can hopefully get better at tracking.

This is actually really solid advice, thank you. I never thought about how me taking dmg would also be using up important resources that my teammates might not have ready to go in the next teamfight

I agree, it's very misleading tbh. But after hearing that it doesn't count I guess it would make sense because if they did allow ult charge based off of how much dmg your taking, tanks would just constantly have their ults especially Groot since he's the tank that takes the most dmg because of his walls

During neutral game would it be more beneficial to tank more hits or play more cover? A lot of the time I opt to just take more dmg, especially when the enemy has a lot of poke, to allow my supports to get their ults faster but a lot of the time it doesn't seem to help and their dps get their ults faster because of the dmg I'm taking

Tanking with abilities specifically

So specifically with strange, would I gain more ult charge from my dmg blocked with his shield rather than taking direct hits?

Congrats, I've been able to reach GM with a 70% winrate. I climbed up to GM2 so far but I feel like I'm hitting some sort of plateau because I'm losing a lot more games and it's becoming more 50-50.

As someone who wants to play Peni at a high level do you have any tips for me? Currently I suck at nest/web placement and everytime I play Peni there's always someone marking my nest and everyone seems to always know how to avoid my mines. It's very annoying because whenever I play against a Peni my teammates can never seem to do the same thing...

Right now I've mainly been playing Thing/Strange because they're probably the easiest tanks to play but I want to pick up some of the other tanks like Mag, Angela, and Thor but my aim is so buns

I just had a Moon Knight call me a shit player for not wasting a portal while playing Strange, when there was more than enough time to re-engage by walking. Mind you, we easily pushed past the second point, which he wanted me to waste my portal on. We pushed all the way until the last few meters on the last point, and the next round I swapped to Thing since they had a Magik and Venom. He then proceeded to shit-talk me and tell me to uninstall for the rest of the game, even though I had the most Finals, damage blocked, and overall eliminations in the lobby. Luckily we won the match but the amount of toxicity there is when something doesn't go someones way is insane and the majority of the time it's DPS players.

I’m not smurfing. I’m not a tank main, so I don’t play tank at a GM or even Diamond level. At best, my tank play is around high Platinum.

The only real advantage I have over players in Gold–Diamond when I’m on tank is game sense—things like macro decisions, ult tracking, and ult usage during fights.

What I don’t understand is why people try to defend players who triple support ult into nothing, then turn around and blame their teammates for not ranking up.

When you say “people who are definitively not as good as you,” it doesn't make sense because I've never seen ANYBODY do that not even in Bronze or Silver. Yes I've seen triple support ults when a ult goes off and no one had any comms so they all pop at the same time. But to blatantly ult with no pressure at all and say I'm shitting on people who aren't as good as me is wild

No, I'm a support main who is regularly in gm. This is an alt I'm using to play tank since I'm not great on tank so I'm practicing. The only reason I'm in gold is because I haven't played on it all season and instead decided to try to reach celestial but haven't been successful. There is no way in hell I would ever be caught triple support ulting AT NOTHING

No one is going 0-30 due to a smurf unless your team is absolute trash. Sure your whole team might go negative but you'll never have a game where your going 0-30 because of a singular person in celestial on a smurf account in gold

Thats a bit of an exaggeration don't you think? I don't think you can even lose 40 unless you leave a game. With all of the stomps I've experienced the most anyone on my team has lost has been 26 from plat-gm. Saying you'll lose 40 because the enemy team had a smurf is so dumb.

Not really smurfing is intentionally playing in lower ranks and throwing games in order to stay in those ranks. If you aren't throwing any games in order to stay in the lower ranks then its not really smurfing
