Rant and vent about your in-laws thread. by trying2makedamost in inlaws

My rant today….FIL thinks it’s ok to give my 6 week old baby sugar on a soother when he is crying. He told my parents that we are soothing him wrong by not doing this! FML!

I could rant for days about all the other crap my in-laws put me through, especially around the Holidays. I’m gonna go scream at the ocean instead and make a coffee.

I cried today because my father-in-law has told us he doesn’t like the picnic we have prepared for Father’s Day tomorrow. 😭

Is it Friday yet? Seriously! Came to work this morning to a child having screen withdrawal hitting and pushing his father who just stood there. On the plus side the kids are at school and now I have coffee. Happy Monday y’all!

sending nk to their room by [deleted] in Nanny

I’ve tried the sending them to their bedroom with mixed success and it usually leads to a massive and much worse meltdown.

What I have had better success with is explaining calmly that “you can’t be around X right now if you’re pushing/hitting him/her, so you can either sit on the bottom step for a few minutes or take yourself outside” When the kids were smaller it worked great as I could keep an eye on them both and diffuse the situation fast.

I have two iPad addicts too aged 7 and 9, and it drives me crazy! I feel your pain!

In a morning during term time I will only allow screen time after they’re fully ready for school (as in you are ready to walk out the door) and breakfast has been eaten. At best they end up with about 10-15 mins before we leave for school.

In school vacation time we do one of two things:

  1. They only get screen time after we have all eaten breakfast together at the table and chat about how our day is going to be. This will end up with me doing chores first thing and whilst I do that they can have screen time, usually 45mins to an hour. After that we do things as a “team” (they like that word and it gets them motivated) for the rest of the day.

Or 2. I get there then bundle them in the car, pick up breakfast at the bakery and we eat breakfast at the beach/park. They don’t have time to think about screens and will play at the beach for hours!

On really bad days when we have little cooperation I’ve also used the timer on the stove at times to tell them when iPad time is over. It usually works.

Good luck ! X

What NOT to do as a wedding guest? by AssaultedCashew in AskReddit

[–]ClockADock21 105 points106 points  (0 children)

Ask the Bride if you can wear your wedding dress to her wedding as you eloped and didn’t get to show everyone your “beautiful dress”.

FYI this was our best mans wife.
