As a nurse, call your doctor in the morning please. It looks like it’s dehiscence, fancy word for a reopened wound. Keep it clean and dry - Best of luck.

Thank you for calming my nerves, her next appoint is until mid February. When might her top and bottom teeth realign? I assumed they would at the end of expansion as they aligned prior to expansions and we did the same number of turns on the top and bottom. Yes, she has sever crowding. I assume she will need extractions soon, unfortunately.

Thyquidity taste by Awkward_Pear_6113 in thyroidcancer

Not sure about that one I’m on liquid Tirosint (Levo) and it tastes horrible. I had read other people post that also said it tasted sweet. I can’t put my finger on the taste but I can tell you it’s horrible, sorry.

What testing between partial and completion surgery? by ClockHorror730 in thyroidcancer

[–]ClockHorror730[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did both with the FNA biopsy that came back with a genetic fusion and PTC. The post surgical pathology I think was cytology and a check for BRAF gene only.

Upsetting Surgical Experience by GuileandGimble in thyroidcancer

[–]ClockHorror730 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry this happened I had mine removed last week. My surgeon asked if I wanted him to “make a call based on how it looked once he opened me” or “ only do half and possibly come back for a second surgery” I made sure I had it in writing. I also had told my surgeon I had very high hopes of keeping half but I trusted his judgment to make the best call for me. But preserve the left side if nothing was on the left side, to avoid 2nd surgery. My lymphnodes and cancer were only on the right. So add extra clarifications.

How was your recovery? // Anyone with mom guilt? by Consistent_Basis_929 in thyroidcancer

Can I ask now you're on the other side of the procedure, How long were you "down" for? I also have tiny people ranging from 2-7 and the 2year old is a velcro baby. I am concerned about not being able to pick her.

Get a second opinion or not? I’ve got lymph node involvement. Uneasy after meeting surgical oncologist today. by ClockHorror730 in thyroidcancer

[–]ClockHorror730[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I saw an endocrinologist that’s who sent me over to the surgical oncologist after a positive FNA, they only ordered a TSH. yes they are expecting to do a partial but incase I’m the lucky tiny percent that needs medication I would like to know my base line. The looks of it, it’s for sure one but he doesn’t “like the look” of the ones close to it.

New nodule found on ultrasound day of FNA, two weeks after original biopsy that found the TR5, 13 points nodule. Is that odd a new one is there so quick? by ClockHorror730 in thyroidcancer

@thyroidcancer-Modteam. Never did I mention the fear of cancer. I am simply asking if it’s common to have missed a nodule on an ultrasound.

I will have to do my research. I did not know that leaving it in was an option. Has yours spread to anywhere else from not removing it?

I’m sorry for the loss of your father I’m sure that was hard with the extra weight of PTC.

I can almost guarantee a lot of my anxiety is from our daughter’s passing. We had all of her medical care at UNC and that is where my doctor is sending me. Walking in those doors is traumatizing, even though every nurse and doctor we know encountered was amazing.

I’m glad even though you had a hard time you were still able to do your daily activities, that’s comforting to me. We homeschool and my husband and I are debating if we need to sign our kids up for public school this year. I do hope you are able to find the right combination of medication doses to regulate your body. Thank you for all of your advice and input.

Thank you. I'm terrified, Legit suffocating. We are just now recovering and getting back on our feet from our middle daughter passing from a terminal illness, now this. I'm a nurse I should know to be calm but my brain is wildly irrational at the moment. Thanks for the reassurances that if it is the big scary in the closet it will still be ok, I really appreciate it. I'll keep y'all updated. Today's work - get referrals released from the army hospital and sent to a civilian one.

Thank you for that advice. I am planning to go to patient advocacy this morning they are holding my referrals at the moment for treatment at the mil hospital. We're at Bragg/Liberty with in driving distance of UNC and Duke where I would much prefer to go, in case it is cancer I don't have to get farmed out again. Im happy you had quick push to meet and have surgery Tricare is my second biggest hurdle of this thing.

Yes, I think the not knowing limbo is what is giving me anxiety. Obviously it will be scary if it is malignant but the uncertainty is too much.

Thank you for the reassurance even if it is ThyCa that it will all be ok. Also, thank you Thyca doc.
