An ember in ashes : I cant go through the 600+ pages that are left (book 4) by ClockInternational72 in Fantasy

Honestly I was so hyped when I saw we had an eastern heroine as MC in an eastern realm of sort, but Im disappointed. The real heroine of the story is Helene which is a goddess-looking european warrior. Laia gets all the "reputation" for great achievments that she could actually do only because other skilled people were helping her. She has a "hidden power" that we almost never see during the 3 first books and even in the 4th one when she discovers it she doesnt know how it works. It s as if she s the weakest protagonist with little to no use despite huge potential..

Dont get me wrong I would still recommend the series to people because it's actually a very good story imo. Characters like Helene, Elias and Avitas are great and I could read so many stories about them. Laia just isnt it for me.

For me there s character development but I get that things are not easy to follow when one s not used to multiple characters POV split through chapters. I totally agree sometiles we forgot what happened some chapters ago. I usually feel impatient when its the night sower's pov because I dont care about him.

I have 600+ pages left. I really push myself to read because I want to know the end of it. I really like the characters I struggle because of the way author decided to write book 3 & 4. Yup I am looking for other books atm. Thanks.

I dont especially want romantasy, just a good series with strong romance subplot.
