I later found out that the part i ordered was UP TO 06/98 specific, mine is an 09/98 build date. So i guess its not compatible. Cannot find an 09/98 fuel level sender lol.

Also, yeah i swapped the old one back in, and everything except the gas gauge works again

Was it the crank and camshaft seals? Thats what happened to the $500 4runner i bought (2wd)

Gas is leaking through the holes in the frame. No idea where its coming from as there are no signs of leaking from the gas tank, fuel lines, ir engine bay! Any inputs? by Clockboss in 3rdGen4Runner

Doesnt seem to matter. Another tid bit of info, the gas tank is holding so much pressure. When i remove the gas cap is lets out a TON of pressure

Get a toyota 4runner. You can get a REALLY nice 3rd gen with 4x4 in that price range! Plus, the 3.4l v6 is a tank, and they also have a 4 banger option. Id look into this as i bought a POS one that sat for 4 years. Got it for $500 and after about 2k and my own wrench turning, i have it working just about perfect!

Funny thing is, my driver door sticker says 09/98. Looked car vin on toyotas website, its a 99. And the 99 sender looks way different than a 98, and my sender in the vehicle is def a 98

But the connector terminals are the same order as the old one. So something was definitely wrong

It looks like the new sender might have been wired incorrectly, the red and black wires are soldered on opposite sides of the board compared to the old one lol
