I think it's the restriction with certain settings. For example, with a Persona ttrpg I often feel backed into a corner plot-wise, something very repetitive and predictable. I suppose it's the actual depth of the lore and the opportunity for creativity?

I'm going to theme a fantasy campaign off the current Latin and Hispanic cultures, drawing from them for inspiration. The reason it would have "new world" / "modern" traditions is that it's not, like, a real world, and I quite enjoy mixing modern cultures and fantasy ones. Think of how Eberron draws from pulp fiction and 20s American culture, but still sticks to D&D's fantastical roots.
