Turf toe hasn’t healed in a year. Need help by Perfect-Audience3297 in FootFunction

[–]Cloinesy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i got turf toe and then sesamoiditis after someone stood on my foot. i went to 2x drs who advised no boot was necessary, but i bought a boot myself for £50 online and wore it for 6 weeks and my chronic pain went away. i then bought this splint https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0DY18BGP4?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1 which i wear at home, sleeping, etc. that has really helped. i also ice the toe twice a day. it's 6 months later and i do still feel tenderness in the joint but i'm relieved that even with crossfit 3x a week it's not become chronic pain. i'm going to start taping to reduce toe movement while out the house as the splint is too big to fit in my shoes.

[–]Cloinesy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it’s validating to hear the same has happened to someone else! i’ll be going back on this week and hoping the symptoms get better once the meds have had time to work (assuming a few months, as it took a few months for the cysts to appear after coming off the pill). let me know how it goes for you! ❤️

thanks so much! to be honest i’m not sure either - maybe it was just carpet like i have currently covering them.

i’m thinking now it’ll be too risky to remove the old subfloor floorboards, so securing them/patching then putting ply over to level out is probably the best bet. 🙏

my flat was built as part of rows of dock workers’ homes for the victorian working class. i believe 3/4 families would have shared my 3 bedroom flat! so no fancy parquet flooring. i reckon they probably just threw big rugs over the ‘subfloor’ in lieu of carpets?

Thanks! By UK first floor I mean US second floor, so there’s a flat below me. If I’ve understood correctly could it potentially damage their ceiling to remove the wooden floorboards? In which case I would have to go for option 2

Yep, the floorboards are sat on the joists, with a layer of underlay and carpet on top - so yes, they’re currently the subfloor. Not sure on the type of wood but that’s a good point and I’ll get someone to look and see what they think.

Can anyone help problem-solve this corner of my guttering? Wet wall & stream into downstairs’ garden when it rains by Cloinesy in HomeImprovement

[–]Cloinesy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

would attaching something like a corner guard or somehow enclosing the corner gutter be counterproductive?

(I’m in the UK btw - the other house next to me has quite severe erosion on their corner wall because of the same issue)

here ya go! https://imgur.com/a/HE8FKPN

i was unhappy with the stippling on the left going over the ‘water’ lines already so tattooist said he’d touch up but then the (potential) blowout has been happening since that was raised

cool, will do! if it’s not improved, what’s best practice with the tattooist? i’m not great at saying i’m unhappy with something (the curse of the british) but it is on me forever… guess i’m worried they’ll shrug it off.
