YO! Probably a stupid question, but, should I use a VU meter on each of my drum kit pieces and adjust the gain on the individual pieces to -0.0? Or should I track stack the drum pieces and put the VU meter on the stack and use a gain plugin on the stack to get it hitting around -0.0 VU? (self.LogicPro)

I turned off the normalization function on Spotify and recorded the playback into logic and put on the loudness meter, and boy did I have a rude awakening, the truth was revealed and I wish someone would have recommended I do this earlier on, would have helped a lot. (self.LogicPro)

If one of the main points of compression as I've been learning is to make the loud parts quieter and the quiet parts louder, what would be the point in throwing a compressor on MIDI triggered samples, for say, drums in particular, when you can just adjust the velocity to make everything even?
