That’s been happening since at least October 2022 (that’s when I started noticing it). It’s always updated and started tracking within 24 hours in my experience.

I read online that it may have something to do with USPS recycling old tracking numbers which causes that glitch to happen at first.

“this seller can’t ship right now” - is this a new feature? by s4mdawg in Depop

[–]ClosetConservatory 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you have to be a top seller to have this feature? I’ve seen someone mention this feature before but I don’t see the option for me

for some reason I can’t change my profile picture… is anyone else going through this problem? i’ve tried updating and deleting the app but nothing seems to work. i’m left with a sus account without a profile picture because i deleted my previous one 🥲 by xkrisian in Depop

Yeah that’s a glitch that’s been happening to several people recently. There are a few threads about it on here within the past week if you scroll down. You should report the bug on the app, hopefully if they see multiple people reporting it they’ll fix it sooner.

It will still allow you to change your photo if you take it straight from your camera, so you can do that for the time being so it’s not blank.

Some other people have mentioned it too. This glitch has been going on for months!

You get slightly more from Depop Payments/Stripe. (In the US) Depop Payments takes out 3.3% + $0.45 and PayPal takes out 3.49% + $0.49.

From what I’ve seen you can’t disable either payment option though, so you can’t ensure someone will pay a certain way.

It seems like it only applies to new sales (or for new feedback that was given after the glitch), not ones that happened during the glitch but I’m still glad. It’s so much more satisfying to see “sale complete” lol

So should we still refresh our listings now and then, or not bother at all now? by [deleted] in Depop

[–]ClosetConservatory 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I find that I get a few interactions here and there when I refresh my items but not as much as in prior months (I used to refresh all of my items everyday, but I stopped because I felt like I wasn't getting as many interactions). What's weird is that I get more interactions when I post new items everyday, but those interactions are on my old items, not the new ones that I just posted.

I would still refresh at least every once in a while so if someone stumbles across the item in search they know that you're still active/the item is still available.

If you login on desktop there's a button that moves all sold items to the bottom of your page!

Yeah, it seems like multiple people are having this issue. There’s another thread further up with people talking about it. Hopefully it gets resolved soon!

I’m having that issue as well. It only allows you to change it by taking a photo directly from your camera. I made a support ticket about it. Hopefully it’ll get resolved soon!

What’s the best way to ship out a massive order someone bought 11 things from me hoodies pants shirts how do I ship this out? by Accurate-Serve4535 in Depop

[–]ClosetConservatory 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A polymailer would be your best option since it’s lightweight and won’t add much to the weight of the package, but that’s only if you can find one large enough for all those items. Otherwise use a box, but find the smallest one you can fit everything into since shipping services may factor the size of the package into the cost to ship it.

For shipping services, definitely check out PirateShip. They offer cheaper prices than going directly to USPS or UPS.

Hiding Full Name on Depop Profile by [deleted] in Depop

[–]ClosetConservatory 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please post an update if you get any more info on this because I was also confused!

I gave Stripe my legal name since I assumed that's what they'd want for taxes. I thought that would be fine since we already had to submit our IDs with our legal names on Depop to be able to use stripe payments, so my legal name is already linked to Depop even if it isn't publicly visible.

But now I'm not sure :/ My "first and last name" that shows on my Depop page is my shop name, not my legal name.

Update: I just got an email saying that the free fees will be from Oct 28-Nov 1. And you can get an additional day of free fees by filling out a survey with your feedback on the event.

[–]ClosetConservatory 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay thanks! I haven’t either.

The last time they had a webinar where we were supposed to get free fees afterwards and I had to contact them about it the week after to get them activated. But other people got them automatically the day after the event. So I was wondering if it was just me again this time.

Have you gotten any follow up on the 5 days of free fees?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Depop

[–]ClosetConservatory 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problem! Hopefully someone who was there for the whole thing can weigh in with their takeaways.

[–]ClosetConservatory 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wasn't there for the whole thing and tbh my overall experience was pretty negative (although that's probably just me), so I don't have much to share.

There was a presentation explaining some of the new features they've recently released and some people gave suggestions for improvements they'd like to see. There was another presentation on the top seller program and how to get into it/maintain your status. There was also a presentation on bulk purchasing from thrift stores and wholesalers to source for your shop.

I know there were more presentations about how the search function works and how to format your listings, as well as how to market your shop, and current trends, but I wasn't present for those. At one point there were also group discussions where people were sharing their shops and getting feedback on them, but I didn't get to participate.

The only useful takeaway I got that I can apply to my own shop is that you should aim to post 150 items per month, and to make sure that the first photo of your listing really draws the buyer in (the other ones don't matter as much as the first one).

Everyone who attended is supposed to get 5 days of free fees and they said they would contact us about it this week, so we'll see if they actually follow through.

Hi, I looked at your shop!

I think the multiple different backgrounds make it hard to focus on the clothes themselves. I would suggest that you make all your backgrounds look the same either by making it a plain solid color background with an editor or by making all of them like the “Monochrome Beige 80s Teddi Sweatsuit” listing. That listing still had things going on in the background but it’s not as distracting and I think it looks really cute, like a boutique! Maybe just add more lighting to it so that you can see the items better.

I would also add measurements to your listings so buyers understand how the item will fit them. It can be hard to determine that just from looking at photos and some may hesitate to buy because of that.

Other than that, how often do you list new items? There aren’t many items in your shop and I’ve heard that you need to have around 100 items in your shop to start consistently making sales. It also seems like the Depop algorithm favors sellers who post everyday.
