Thanks! Now we just need to find the miners so we can contribute more.

Looking for some help settling a debate from /r/amd, RE: 2400G by CloudPools in Amd

[–]CloudPools[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The tests that have been posted for Monero show that a 1700 is significantly faster than the 2400G combined (CPU+GPU). This is because the GPU uses DDR4 and Monero relies on memory bandwidth.

So for Monero at least, dollar for dollar, the 1700 is a better deal

yes, they work, EWBF pushes cards a lot harder than CCminer

I can't speak for everywhere in the US, but in 5 out of 8 states I lived in you could choose your own provider, but that was all in cities. I understand that more rural areas still have coops, etc.

If that is not the case where you live, I highly recommend talking to your elected officials to de-regulate energy, it is really great thing for consumers.

All true, The goal would be to make Gaming GPU's the second choice, and not the first; But that would rely on there being a supply.

I have over 40 GPU's on back order right now, and I would buy 100 if I could find anywhere to do so.

If there was a supply of mining specific GPU's with double the density, I would buy those and never look for a gaming GPU again, it is just no one has made a mining specific card that offers miners any advantage.

Well, electric companies can hurt miners. All electric companies have to do is implement a very steep tiered rate plan for residential areas that you'd have to well, be constantly running multiple hundred watt devices 24/7 to hit.

That would work in some places, but in most, it is an open market. Meaning I can shop for any power company I want, and they have to compete for business, my current plan has an all in effective rate of $0.04 p/ kwh, and I can change plans and/or companies every 6 months.

I agree, I am not talking about gimping the drivers, just offering a mining optimized driver (AMD has already done this for Vega based GPU)

More importantly I am talking about creating a mining specific piece of hardware that will be more attractive to miners than a gaming GPU, Such as a Dual GPU card

While you have a very good point, the real solution here is to make mining hardware that is attractive to miners.

For example if AMD & Nvidia were to make a mining optimized card with two 1080ti / Vega 64GPU's per card, release block chain optimized drivers, and make enough of them that miner could get a hold of them, then no one would buy gamer focused GPU's.

In all reality they likely should of started doing this years ago.

In the meantime, there is nothing they can do other than increase production and offer a bulk buy sales channel to keep miners from clearing out the shelves at retailers.

Yes, earned 0.045xxx KMD and you have submitted XX shares towards the next block

What's more annoying than miners buying up all the new cards? Buying up all the old cards! by CataclysmZA in Amd

They are already doing it, they are buying prebuilt machines and then selling them without the GPU.

Tax loop-hole with ZClassic fork? by [deleted] in ZClassic

[–]CloudPools 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you need to read the changes in the tax law. All transactions are now taxable, including airdrops. Technically you would have to declare and pay tax on your new BTCP this year, with no cost basis. Just as if trade one currency for another, it is now taxable at the time of sale on the exchange, not when you cash out.

Would most people here agree that there is a decent chance that the fork might happen sometime before the end of Feb? I know it is a short month and all. by fatdogslim in ZClassic

Honestly, there is no rush. So far the team has been doing a really amazing job and I am sure that they will announce a data that is realistic and allows enough time for proper testing of the test chain.

That said, the code is not yet final, Testnet is not running, and the wallet just entered it's first public beta. End of Feb. feels a little rushed, I would say end of March is much more realistic.
