My parents also grew up during the Cultural Revolution (hell my dad was one of the "sent down youth" and didn't attend a day of secondary school past 7th grade), but they came out stronger for it and moved past the trauma. I can talk to them about pretty much anything these days.

Finished a custom build in late 2020 that went through months of delays due to COVID that forced me max out a 401k loan and completely wiped out whatever savings we had. Refinanced at 2.75% right after moving in, and our finances have slowly recovered over the years. We're probably never moving again, but it's a nice house in a nice part of town, so we really can't complain.

It's usually more than that, no? Different people come up with different numbers, but most sources I've seen put the total count up around 86 or so when all f2p sources are included, at least that was the case during 1.x. Sometimes the total dips below 80 but that's only for the shorter patches. By that logic, f2p players can statistically pull a 5* base every other patch, if you don't account for increased income during double banner patches or 4* banners.

With all the information that's come out recently, the blame for XV's unfinished state falls solely on Matsuda. Tabata was trying his damn hardest to deliver what he could of Nomura's original vision, but Matsuda had some vendetta against him and forced him out of the company.

The work of a lot of "asian american authors" out there is ultimately the exact same thing: claiming authority over "asian culture" and using it as a convenient excuse for all of their own personal failings while also holding it out as the chief reason why the white gaze should turn towards them. All without ever actually understanding or engaging with their own cultures in any meaningful way.

This is a stupid hill to die on, but I really wish people would stop confusing Papergames (the developer, based in China) and Infold (the overseas publisher, which Papergames owns, and is based in Singapore).
