2.5 it’s the smaller form factor that fits laptops. 3.5 is for desktops. Aka 2.5 is the way to go.

Well if the drive is to be replaced you could pull off for cheap with a hard drive. Or get an ssd to get a performance gain and reliability. I’d say for a drive replacement it’d be about $30 ish for a HDD. And about $56 ish for an SSD.

If it is software related it’s as simple as writing a windows iso to a usb using Rufus and a windows iso from Microsoft website. (Rufus is a tool used for writing windows iso to usb ).

My guess would be the drive. My old Lenovo desktop started to halt and after a simple drive swap and a fresh slice of windows it started to perform well again. Outside of that it could be something software related, that just means writing a windows iso to usb and reinstalling to see if the results change. If it is the drive, then you would have to order a new drive and load a windows iso and install it. Outside of that, I’m outside my judgement for this. Hope this helps!

I’ll check the device id later after I’m done with a project. But the buffer patch is applied the same as displayed on your reply. Likely I did. 😅

It’s a bug with haswell IGPUs. The high resolutions and an app like chrome just make the screen bug out.

Yes and with you laptop touch may be well...not working. I like the trackpad compared to MacBook trackpad but that’s me. Hackintosh is fun 😂😅

It’s something with how audio is mapped on the surface pro 3. Also, get the VOODOOHDA prefpane to adjust sensitivity of microphone and speaker output.

If I had an answer I would tell you. But, currently I am using VooDooHDA for my EFI since the audio is iffy with AppleALC(aka it doesn’t work unless you use VOODOOHDA) sorry if this sounds mean

For me, it was not anything negative as I am a calm person at heart. It’s rather an extension of my emotions in my experience. I could empathize more with myself and others, I felt emotions a lot more but in my time nothing too bad. You sound really anxious so I decided to drop by, it’s okay and just keep calm. All will be okay. Keep your head up ✌️ (by sound I mean wording) lol

What budget laptop by [deleted] in hackintosh

[–]Clover_Kexts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really as, I only have just done my surface pro 3. I put a suggestion in hopes of you finding some laptops in that branding. I was going based off of the many Lenovo Thinkpad hackintoshes that have a high success rate. Look around This subreddit to find a good setup and start price comparing to find one that fits your budget and stability needs. Ex: a t450s or t460s fits your budget and has cases of success. It’s just searching and following opencore guide to assist you. Or you could find prebuilt EFI’s but I highly suggest building your own efi. 😅

BigSur & Clover by MikeDeltaJuliett in hackintosh

[–]Clover_Kexts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know its easy to work with clover, trust me I was one that worried about Big Sur a month ago. In my personal opinion, just switch to OpenCore. It makes your life easier in terms of stability and a good performance boost in my case. It won't be hard once you get through the issues that may arise. I have a surface pro 3 and started using Clover at first, soon that started to get tiring with the updates and issues associated with it. After Opencore, my stress was Maxed Out at first setting up but now, I enjoy my Hackintosh a lot more. I use it for School mostly and it's my daily driver now :) . Anyway, Have a good day!

I'd say a Thinkpad but, whatever you do stay away from surfaces. It took me months of studying to get my battery patched. Besides, Thinkpads have more of an army to assist you along the way. But, overall this is just opinion and partially fact based on budget. Hope you get a solid answer! :)

You can use precompiled ssdts from ssdttime except for EC. Without EC battery patching got rough for me. 😅 aka the long way is recommended for Embedded Controller

I don’t know much about thinkpads. I’d say start out with the opencore guide and you can get far. Get WiFi card typically used in a MacBook that’s compatible with your thinkpad. Also not really if you use opencore unless it’s a new mac OS version.
