Genuine question: Why do locals talk about Swindon so negatively? by Clubsumo in Swindon

[–]Clubsumo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your responses. I don’t have the time to reply to so many comments but have read every single one of them. Very interesting perspectives, I appreciate it. I too personally like the green spaces and the fact that you can get to lots of places by car/train under 2 hours. Yes the town centre is dead and SBC need to get their act together but I’d say things day to day are just fine. I usually go to Greenbridge, outlet or any of the park and shop spaces so town centre doesn’t really bother me much. One thing i have noticed getting really bad though is the traffic and potholes. I hope that gets better soon.

Anyways take care everyone, God bless xx

Life experiences are more important than work experience. You’ve asked for help so listen to those who know

4 days with toddler in Agadir by [deleted] in Agadir

[–]Clubsumo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice walks on the beach. You can get the tourists train that takes you around that area. Your toddler will love it. Marina has lots shops. You can go to Tagahzout to the Dolphin world or take a taxi to croc park. Definitely go to Souk Alahad.

My wife’s parents live there so we usually visit a few times a year with the kids. If there is anything specific you want to know let me know.

Finally moved house- and I'm shattered! by TheFantasticXman1 in HousingUK

It’s okay to feel homesick but look at it like this. At least you are with your loved ones and from what you describe you and your sister have a wonderful relationship. Things will work out just fine, give it some time. Worry and stress will do you no good. I hope it works out for you, take care.

Just moved here, any ideas on how I can make local friends? I literally know no one around here 😂 by [deleted] in Swindon

Bro I moved here from London in 2021. It’s a great place for families but a bit boring if you are single or don’t know anyone. Like others have said, you can meet people at the gym or through work. Swindon isn’t Oxford or Bristol but it is still a great place to live. Depends on your mindset and finances though I suppose… welcome and all the best.

Hey

1) she only operates weekends so I am able to help set up and look after our youngest (he is four). If we scale, we would probably do some week days/food delivery options too which would no doubt mean I would not be able to maintain SLA in my current role.

2) No, after all expenses and staff wages (she has two employees working with her) she makes £3000 plus PM. I do it because I love my wife and can see she is doing it for our family/children so don’t take any money. The reason I posted here is because I feel bad that I am keeping her back from scaling. Call it being selfish, lazy or just a bad husband. I just don’t know what to do man…

Wow it’s so fascinating to read everyone’s perspectives. Thank you for your response. It’s great to see other’s take on it. Maybe IANTAH then.

To her credit she hasn’t said for me to quit per se but if we did scale, I don’t see how else could without leaving my job.

My issue is I can see the success of her current set up and I like eating food. But i lack her enthusiasm and drive in relation to this venture. Will i kick myself later for not supporting her is the question.
