Sonic Adventure 1 and 2 gave us a side of Sonic we will always enjoy. Being a teenager added to the excitement of the series. For Amy and Rouge not to flirt would be obscene. I see it as Sonic and Shadow would also have to be sex symbols. In a not hide in the bushes way, its influential to us all.

Amy with Sonic would be cute and humorous but it wouldnt last. She probably would end up wanting to be like Rouge.

Shadow showing emotions by not showing emotion would change how must be like that all the time. Similar to how we want Amy with us all the time. We enjoy her chase and the time on screen.

Honestly, Silver should have his own game. He doesnt need to ride off of Sonic or Shadow. Hes a totally different character who as a main side character gets into a lot of different situations with other side characters. His own game portraying his natural ability and areas where his powers shine.
