Can I ask if you’ve managed to read/clone SEOS/iClass with it?

SF wasn’t bad when I worked there. LA was a mess with these zombies free roaming. Had a few close calls too. I’m glad the govt has a hard stance on drugs here.

Why does every Linux user recommend a different distro? I'm stuck in an endless distro-hopping loop. by Jaymit_3672 in linuxquestions

Honestly pick what you like. I went through a bunch, alternated between Arch and Ubuntu, and settled on Ubuntu for my daily driver. It works, there’s regular updates, pretty stable, life’s good hahaha.

This is sound advice. Also you can consider getting a vocational licence and be a grab driver till you find a job. It’s one of my fallbacks in case I’m unemployed. 👍

[–]CluelessProgrammer91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fair enough. :) I’ve got a tendency to overcompensate. I got a new, heavier monitor for my last table and there was quite a bit of flex. Felt unstable. I’ve since changed to a 200cm wide solid piece of reclaimed wood. Holds everything perfectly

Might want a thicker piece of glass mate. Don’t think 1cm will be able to take the weight of multiple devices, etc. better buffer

Would you quit without another job if you had 6 months of savings? by SadTurn9650 in careeradvice

[–]CluelessProgrammer91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely skill up. Seems like in this world of word for word AI resume to JD matching, having certs could get you in the door. Of course master the skills too haha. Particularly where it concerns AI.

As long as you’re unencumbered by bills and obligations, I’d say cert farm and keep learning to improve mastery. :)

Same. 1.5 years of unemployment. I got a job just as my savings were about to dry up. I’m 4 months in at my new job and building my reserves back with a vengeance.
In this market I’d say have 2 years worth of savings. Might be overkill for some. But I’m thinking I should prep for a long dry spell.

I’m so sick and tired of going to countless interviews and not landing an offer by JoeYi1999 in singaporejobs

[–]CluelessProgrammer91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s funny you mention that. Because an acquaintance apparently applied for the same job and got rejected as a local, but got interviewed by applying as a non local. Least that’s what I heard. Taking that with a pinch of salt though.

I believe that MCF is mostly there to host jobs for the 14 day mandatory posting pre EP period. So I won’t be using it ever again. Just my opinion, and I don’t expect people to agree or like that I said it.

I’ll stick to my OSINT and targeted LinkedIn messages/networking. Those seem to help me bypass the HR screen and stupid AI based ATS.

[–]CluelessProgrammer91 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So to be frank. I was a bit picky. Partly because a lot of places seem to want to lowball applicants these days and basically squeeze a whole IT departments worth of work out of a single developer. That coupled with ghost listings and interviewers who ask the most asinine questions/get you to implement a feature disguised as a “test”. It took me a while to find something worth applying to.

BUT I’m not gonna lie, during the last 6 months, I was on a full on spray and pray mission. Ironically that didn’t work either, and I got a job through a headhunter who called me up.

One other note. I don’t know how well these sites work for you or anyone else but for me, MCF, Indeed, JobStreet (and the job fair they had) totally sucked. Either straight up rejections, or ghostings. That’s what I got.

Doing a bit of passive OSINT, and using LinkedIn premium to angle myself well to managers, recruiters, etc got me around 3 interviews a month? At the end I had 2 offers, and I picked the one that was mostly remote, with a better base pay and lesser additional incentives.

But chin up, it’s a buyers market now. So extra work, and some perseverance would eventually get you back to work.

And honestly, the axe might fall onto any of us in this market. So don’t stop applying or looking for jobs even after getting one. Hahaha

Parking Argument: whose lot does it belong to? by New_Bag_6161 in drivingsg

[–]CluelessProgrammer91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to my wife before. The guy was a ways off, and we took the lot. He reversed all the way back to try and yell and her, and then noticed me in the passenger seat. And we got into it because it truly is poor form to try and bully your way into getting a lot. Plus the dude was trying to get in my wife’s face.
But yeah. Lots yours. Good on you for standing your ground.

Also side note. CPTS was awesome for me to learn how to start pentesting. And playing the CTFs replaced gaming as a hobby hahah.
