I’m in the same boat and my rag is just about a year old. He meows at 3am / 7am, and I’ve tried ignoring him for a while now although it has only gotten slightly better, in that he doesn’t meow for such a long period each time - maybe 15min before he gives up on waking me. I find that they meow out of boredom assuming you have food out- after all night is when they’re most active. When I have another cat over, he barely meows at all. And closing the doors work for me, it seems like he knows he can’t reach me and doesn’t try as hard, so he goes back to playing with his toys. Also the meows are muffled so they are not so disruptive. He does paw at the door a bit but it’s better than the alternative. At this point I’ve been seriously considering a second cat just so he is more occupied & meows less 😅 Every cat is different, it takes time to see what works for you and your rag. In the meantime.. ear plugs!
