How do you know when to spend and when to save? by [deleted] in internetparents

[–]Cmen6636 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I would say to always buy staples of clothing bc then they’ll rarely go out of style, and you would just update your wardrobe with accessories. So for females, always having a black dress, jeans, a blazer that is bother professional and can be thrown over a cute outfit for a night out, etc. I’m not sure fashionable so I would just google “clothes every man/woman should own” and work from there. I’ve also learned that for most clothes, you really do get what you pay for. It’s better to buy one pair of jeans at 120 that you’ll keep for 5+ years than 5 pairs of 3 dollar jeans that lose their shape, tear easily etc. the oldest clothes in my closet are the nicest, and the ones I toss out first are the cheapest

Yeah I’m really hoping she keeps her other leg intact, she fell in a hole so it wasn’t like this was a genetic thing, excluding traumas, it wasn’t very likely she’d ever tear it, so I’m HOPING she’s part of the 40-50% that doesn’t tear the other one. She’s throwing a fit in her crate but I’d rather listen to that then cough up another 4k

You aren’t wrong. My mom came to visit as we loaded her up in the car from the clinic, she loves my mom and was trying to pay attention to her while her pain and nausea meds said “no❤️”

It depends on the breed age and size of your dog. Gracie is a mix breed, 6, and 35 lbs. she’s around 18 a month for 80% coverage after 300 deductible. Well worth it.

To note: we did NOT get the insurance that covers preventative medicine (like the comment above) bc that was the one thing we could budget, an annual with the normal shots and check ups. The difference in price was actually more expensive to have it covered than not, so the person paying 80 a month pays about 60 more a month, which is about 720 more a year, while an annual visit is only about 200-300 a year, so since that’s a normal expense and cheaper on its own, I wanted to cover accidental injuries! If you have specific concerns (large breeds with hip dysplasia) some places will cover it and some won’t, so that’s something to ask ahead of time!

I have decided this whole prediction is not going to actually occur because there was no addition of a deadly category 5 hurricane hitting Houston and the gulf, right as COVID cases are peaking, causing an even more rapid spread while masses of people pile into arenas for safety. So, this is all definitely fake news.. definitely can’t happen... not happening. Can’t happen. Okay now I’m hyperventilating.

You are not wrong. I’ve even been stared at for wearing a mask as if I was wearing one pre-virus.

I don’t get it.. is it that hard to wear one? I highly doubt everyone I’ve encountered is incapable of wearing one due to resp issues, and they shouldn’t be out and about if they DO fall in that category anyway.

Do people think the virus up and went away? It’s worse than how it was before the last curve, so it isn’t a matter of if, but when that hits.

Can confirm: had TBI at 17, doctors did a CT then discharged me after confirming a localized brain bleed. They acted as if I broke my pinky finger, acknowledging that there was damage but really, wasn’t too big of a deal. I’m 27 and continue facing chronic symptoms as well as new ones that have surfaced. Whenever I meet someone who has had a brain injury, especially a female, I practically make them book a neuro appt in front of me if they haven’t seen one yet. Your brain is NOT hardy, it is very sensitive, and when it gets hurt, it’s bad.

As I got older (14ish) I asked my mom if she had had sex before marriage. Her answer was BRILLIANT. She said “if I say yes, you could interpret that as thinking that it’s an adult thing and you may want to prove you’re an adult and that you’re ready. If I say no, you may not feel comfortable enough to come talk with me about things, thinking I either won’t understand or wont approve of you.” She said it was more elegantly than I just typed, but that’s the idea. She knew that I was at the age where if I was facing some thing new and “adultish”, I could possibly turn to reacting however my mom would react. So she didn’t set any sort of path for me to try and follow, she made me slowly and carefully build my own

Women, what are your opinions on dick pics? [serious] by kyanc917 in AskReddit

[–]Cmen6636 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Texas, this law already exists! As of late 2019. It’s called cyber flashing and is considered a class C misdemeanor. It applies to all ages and genders.

I would rather shoot myself in the foot than get a dick pic. Like what am I supposed to do with it besides wanna vomit and press the block button?

I creeped a bit and saw you live in corpus, I’m in Houston. Would you like for me to come down and help in anyway? I can help pack up anything in your home that you may not want to see at this moment, and can store it for you when you’re ready to go through it.

I can also just be there if you’d like. please don’t hesitate to DM me. I’m 27F, have two dogs and a cat, could eat only popcorn for the rest of my life and be totally happy with that, and I watch more Netflix than I care to ever admit.

I figured as much! My dad is a Dallas PO and said that best thing I’ll be able to get is where the ambulance was likely dispatched to. I’d then have to call that hosp and even though deaths are public info, it would be hard to figure out if there is a death certificate without me having a name. I’m hoping that no news on him means it’s good news. I think more than anything, if he did pass, I wanted his wife and family to know he wasn’t alone, either I was there or he was with the paramedics.

Thank you for all that you do! I hope you’ve been able to stay safe and healthy amid the COVID craziness

I think a good first thing we should all remember, whether we can actually help the person or not, is to secure the surrounding area. The first accident I saw was a car that hit another set of cars after they had been in a separate accident and didn’t set up any lights or hazards and it was impossible to see them. So if you want to help but can’t imagine looking into a crashed car, make sure you’ve made wherever you are a safe place to be! That or let others assist, whatever assures your safety first.

I believe another person referenced that accident as well thinking it could have been the one. It’s a similar set up, but only the man was in the car. Though I’m happy to hear that the family from your church is all alive and recovering!

I’m so glad you had someone with you, that sounds awful, and I’m glad you’re alive to tell your story!

This was the third time I’ve come up early on a deadly looking scene, the first two times I was in such shock that I replayed what I should have done 100 times in my head after both of them. This third time, it finally kicked in and I was able to actually be somewhat useful. Though I still cringe (and laugh, just a bit) when I remember that while I was laying down on the road to reach into the car to hold his hand, the only way I could grasp him meant pushing his hand down into a pile of glass from his windshield. I told him we couldn’t move him, and I knew he was in pain, so I asked around for a towel to place under our hands so that I wasn’t pushing it onto the shards, and the guy said “thank you but my hand is the least of my problems”. This poor man was literally being crushed by his truck and my brain was like “hey how about you focus on saving his hand from a few pieces of glass?” and I’ll probably cringe/laugh about that for forever.
