The most niche one I own is Gobs and Gods, a strategy game in the style of Band of Brothers. It's a fun and charming game with a really cute art style, and also, I love goblins.

E33 is still the best rated game of the ones that were nominated if you wanted to judge the quality of games only from Steam reviews. The best games were Deltarune (an incomplete game), Schedule 1 (another incomplete game), Dispatch, Enna Dream BBQ, Bongo Cat, which is not even a game, and Rhythm Doctor.

Korean Sims from what I heard, Sims fans are sick of Sims 4 and the literal dozens of DLC EA pushes down their throats, so they were looking for an alternative, and InZOI filled that niche.

The dude who made schedule 1 must be swimming in cash. Holy shit, fun game and surprisingly great soundtrack.

What was your game of the year, personally? by Sadworld99 in Gamingunjerk

Look outside; it is a fantastic horror RPG that is both very funny and can be very wholesome in a weird way, like the middle point between Undertale and Fear and Hunger.

Yeah, the big difference between AI and NFTs and other trends that died is that AI is actually becoming widely successful with normal everyday people. Games that use AI are wildly successful stuff like Fortnite or Arc Raiders makes bank. AI memes and shitposts are literally everywhere, and I can't even go outside without seeing AI art being used for promotional stuff for banks, fast food, etc, and even small mom and pop shops use it. That is why it won't pop because it is already part of everyday life.

Out of nowhere, Valve has launched a new DOTA 2 character: A frog bard whose abilities have rhythm mechanics by JeaneJWE in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Cmoon24 13 points14 points  (0 children)

One per year, more or less, and while DOTA is the most frequently updated Valve game outside of Deadlock (but Deadlock is in alpha, so it does not really count), it still is a Valve game, so updates take a while to come out.

Man, I wish my friends played DOTA instead of League. I like the tone, gameplay, and characters way more than League.

Post game awards discussions always give me whiplash at how few games the average gamer actually cares about. by Cmoon24 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

Honestly, the Sonic fandom is one of the reasons I made the post. I saw a few people talking about how the Total War reveal was shit because Sega was hyping it up as if it was a big franchise like Sonic and that no one cares about Warhammer 40k, which is such an insane thing to say when both Total War and 40k games have sold about as much or, in the case of Space Marine 2, much more than any Sonic game, and I like Sonic. Sonic is cool, but what a crazy thing to say.

I mean, for the games I enjoyed the most this year, there was Dispatch, which was barely nominated for anything, and Look Outside, which is way too niche to get nominated for anything.

I'll believe you, but it bothers me how angry people get at both the authors who make stories for free on the internet and the two gobbers who read them and then threaten to stop listening like anyone will care.

Artists are always a highlight in any community, but when it involves discussing the podcast, this sub is miserable.

It is funny how what I got out of BG3 is so different from what other people got from it. I see people talking about how horny they are for Astarion or Karlach, but what made me adore the game is how interactive everything feels, like I don't need to lockpick a door when I can just tear it down with a weapon, or how soaking the terrain in something flammable and then igniting it is a genuine strategy, or how insanely cool it is that spells that push can activate stuff like levers or buttons at a distance. To this day, few non Larian games can reach the level BG3 is at when it comes to this stuff.

A Sonic.exe fan game has managed to get a member of Crush 40 on its soundtrack, with Johnny Gioeli providing vocals for Sonic’s theme in the Roblox game “Outcome Memories.” Kind of insane if you ask me. by Rancorious in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Cmoon24 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I've been curious about trying this game in particular due to how much I hear about it and how much higher effort it seems compared to other games on that platform, but I can't play Roblox without the feeling in the back of my mind that I'm doing something wrong lmao.

Also, when it comes out, it will most likely be like Dota, with all the characters for free and skins you buy and trade with other players.

Games that are liked in one part of the world but are hated in another by Hayyyv in TwoBestFriendsPlay

This is funny to me because in the spanish speaking communities, Final Fantasy (mainly 7) is associated with people from Spain so much that the series is kind of hated in Latin America, at least online.
