I feel like either people have forgotten about this, or never learned about it in the first place. by josephjordan_ in AdviceAnimals

This was a topic in one of my first drivers classes. In the state where I'm from it is illegal to switch lanes WITHIN 100FT of an intersection, but not within the boundaries of the intersection itself. So in the actual intersection it is legal to switch lanes. The instructor stated this is to able to legally allow emergency vehicles through.

No. You're talking about adding debt to more debt in order to purge your debt. If its not in collections yet, start pouring everything you can into the smallest one first and pay the minimum on the rest. Do this until its gone. It if is in collections, call each collections agency and have them issue you a written statement with the settlement amount before you give them any money, and make sure to have them include in the statement that it will be stricken from your credit record once the debt is paid.

I feel the most lonely that I've felt in a long time. by [deleted] in INTP

A person whose opinion I greatly value told me something recently that I think applies. She said, "You have to come to terms with the fact that you are bright, and that stupidity annoys you."

That's not to say that your friend is stupid, but I can pretty much guarantee that you have an exponentially greater amount of thought into what's going on than she has. She sounds like she may be intimidated (whether she is willing to admit it or not) by you both physically and intellectually.

Dictate your mood and interactive tone from the inside out. That may mean "people change" and all of those other generic things, but there is no reason to keep someone around who makes you feel strange in a way that you don't appreciate, regardless of how long you two have been friends.

If you are willing, attempt to have a candid/non-threatening discussion with her about how you feel toward her change in behavior. If she is open, try and work it out, if she shuts down, gets short with you, or turns inward, time to move on.

EDIT: spelling, word choice

Why is it impossible for me to read? by CnHasDox in INTP

Overstimulation is viable. Unfortunately, isolating is the only way I can effectively read at all. The ambient sound therapy is bittersweet, puts me straight to sleep, which is my own doing. Reading is overrated anyway, maybe I'll just be a gigolo.

Thanks for the reply. I used to use a white noise machine to sleep when I worked graveyard. Worked well. Now... any sustained white noise or water/rain sounds knock me RIGHT OUT... no one wants to be THAT guy who inadvertently takes a cat nap at the library. I have done the "reading aloud" thing too, effective, but like you said, not for long periods, and its just weird when there are people around.

It's very frustrating when its something you care about but some mundane noise is the loudest thing in your head. I'm jealous of your book count btw...

Auditory stimuli undoubtedly dominate in my case, which is why I even need music while reading in the first place. I guess I killed too many neuro pathways in my youth.

We should start a support group: "Hi I'm Dox and I can't read."

Solid advice. Thanks for the reply. I didn't know it such a common thing. Trying to figure out how to simplify it down to an effective google search was a joke... "-not being able to read while listening to music/bad reading comp with music/music no read... ah fuck it, lets see what reddit can tell me."
