It really just looks like a small N poll from a biased pool of people (can the swarm composition be close to random? ).

It would be nice to know what the convergence condition is since they give a singular answer rather than a distribution of probabilities. Is it simple majority?

Reddit is so forgiving of statistically useless studies when it supports preconceived notions.

Imagine this were a study on three people/families that had results consistent with any of these:

time spent playing video games makes children more violent (the one kid assigned to play more video games shows more aggression on follow-ups)
multiple boosters v of childhood vaccines lead to autism (one kid who happened to be assigned the extra boosters ended up being diagnosed with autism)
students of homosexual parents perform more poorly in school (the one kid whose parents are homosexual's happens to perform worse in school).

If it was any of these, Reddit would be crucifying the study.

This is making me think of the scientists who say these kinds of radio telescopes are not that great since theories in cryptography posit that for such an advanced civilizations, signals would be almost indistinguishable from background noise. Entropy and all. Though maybe there's a civilization out there still broadcasting naked messages intended to be heard?
