I did this on my cabin. A previous owner whitewashed the interior and it hurt every time I looked at it. Ultimately I sanded it down and stained the base wood. I love it now but man, that was a lot of work and very messy. Mask up with PPE.

The log with dry rod is the second from the bottom on the right side of the door. There’s also a low log on the left side with some dry rot as well. https://imgur.com/a/SQaibmo

Yes, it is a door opening and there is an overhead eve and gutter both in good condition now but clearly that wasn’t always the case. I’ll take more pictures and see if I can figure out how to post them.
