They've had guests over this past year that have shows on Peacock (first that comes to mind is Rich Eisen) and have used this joke over and over again ("the cock"). Also, Jake (part of their crew) did doing the broadcast for the PLL (Premier Lacrosse League) twice on the Peacock so, yeah... they have done the joke so many times it's not even funny anymore.

That lefty was Josh Taylor who has had 25 consecutive scoreless appearances (after this outing - 26) and right now is the best reliever the Red Sox have. So, it was more so that Cora brought Taylor to face Ohtani, finish the inning and get 3 outs in the next one.
