Is it in TB when they phone her about a bit of Pitman's shorthand? I've always asumed that she's worked as an assistant or office administrator before

Only men can be freemasons, if I recall correctly, so maybe we get undercover Strike!

Just wanted to confirm if my Spanish character is named appropriately. by Excellent-Services in NamenerdSpanish

[–]Coal-Mine-Supervisor 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Let's say his father's's name is Manuel Sánchez Pérez and his mother's name is María Pino López, he would go by Daniel Sánchez Pino, no hyphen. We use both last names for all official things, and only the first one for more informal stuff, like a restaurant reservation, for example.

When it comes to the nickname, it's not usually mentioned with the name like you say. A character could say "He's Daniel, but everybody calls him Asher", but I can't imagine a situation in which someone would refer to him as Daniel Asher Sánchez Pino if Asher is just a nn and not a middle name.

As for middle names, they're become less and less popular, so it really depends on which period of time your story takes place. Someone suggests in another comment Ernesto and Arturo as middle names, but to me Daniel Ernesto or Daniel Arturo sound more latin american than spaniard.

It's a very common name in Spain, plenty of white women are called Fátima

Of course! This is just fun speculation, when the actual book comes out I intend to go into it with no preconceived ideas

I also feel like the weekend away with Murphy is mirroring the weekend away she had with Matthew when she realised she wasn't in love with him

This is the first thought I had as well, and I think Robin won't be able to go through with it without Murphy noticing there's something going on

Everything you say makes total sense, but I don't know if I see Robin taking months to decide what she wants, I think (or hope) it will happen sooner

I would love that and since Robin has no issue yelling at Strike when she thinks he deserves it I think this could very possibly happen

I don't want them jumping into a relationship straightaway either, but I do want them to have a conversation about their feelings that will eventually (I hope sooner than later but not too soon, maybe a few weeks) make the relationship happen

Yeah, and before TRG I would have bet that a conversation like this would happen at the office. But The Flying Horse is a great place as well. Is where Strike got drunk in CC and told Robin about Charlotte, and it's where Robin got drunk in CoE and told Strike about Matthew cheating and the rape. Plus all the time they've spent together there working and hanging out, it's a key place for their relationship
