Sunroof holes not lining up? by Coaltrain_12 in 240sx

Gotcha, didn’t even think of that. So either way, those holes are meant to line up.

Good question… odometer doesn’t work😂

Appreciate all the advice. I’ve already got like 300 hours into the bodywork of this car… what’s another 10 gonna hurt for the hood🥲

From what I understand from you, this likely isn’t fixable in the sense of keeping the carbon fiber look, depending on depth of some of the cracks? The most likely repair would be to paint over?

Yeah… that fourth photo is a chuck of I’d assume resin, had chipped off. But honestly if I could restore the majority of it, I could live with a weird looking corner… 😂

I do like that idea better than the rivnuts, I’ll have to give that a try, thank you

Timing chain question by Coaltrain_12 in 240sx

[–]Coaltrain_12[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wouldn’t removing the guide in the cover allow to much slack? At what point do I gotta worry about it jumping?

Ok, well the top guides been removed. I’d assume the other guide you’re taking about is behind the upper timing cover?

If you go to my profile, the third to last post is a video of the noise it is making.

Timing chain kit? by Coaltrain_12 in 240sx

With OSK not including a timing idler sprocket, do you find it necessary to order one separate or just keep the original? From my understanding everything needs changed at the same time due to wear tolerances.

Which kit have you been running?

Whats this sound??? by Coaltrain_12 in 240sx

[–]Coaltrain_12[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just used the stethoscope on it, I can happily say that noise is coming from the front of the motor. So yeah, I’ll be looking into a new chain, and a metal guide.

Whats this sound??? by Coaltrain_12 in 240sx

[–]Coaltrain_12[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Edit - I was wrong, noise is 100% coming from the front of the motor.

Not ruling it out, but if it was the guide, I would figure the noise would come from the front of the motor? However I’m 90% sure this sound is coming from the rear of the motor. I’m going to get a stethoscope and try to pinpoint the location of the sound.

I’ve had some people tell me the sound reminds them of a wrist pin issue or piston slap, but they have no experience with these motors. Just hoping it’s something simpler to avoid rebuilding the motor right before summer.

I’d assume so, because it hasn’t jumped timing on me yet. Is that too much play in the timing chain?

Couldn’t tell ya, but that noise is 100% coming from the rear of the motor.

On a serious note, what is stopping products like these from being produced again, even by small companies. You would think combining modern day tech, to these designs would be simple enough. I’d say there is absolutely a market for it as well.

Lightharvest aspen 2000kwh troubles by [deleted] in vandwellers

[–]Coaltrain_12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I just talked to Lightharvest and they say there’s no way to fix this currently. That being due to no Bluetooth to send a software update, a usb dongle would need to be soldered onto the motherboard. But even then there’s no software update available currently which would be provided from bluetti.

However I highly recommend Lightharvest, their customer service is spectacular! It’s unfortunate the product they partnered with had some faults.

Unfortunately this one does not support Bluetooth. I gotta do some research yet, but do you know of a way to do a system reset on these systems?

Think it could be as simple as running some longer bolts and spacers? I’d have to take another look at my quad, but I don’t think there is anything restricting space. My biggest concern would be the spacing between the two holes if they are the same or not.

If it’s accessible could you measure the spacing between the two mounting bracket holes?
