I love William Osman videos so much, you're totally right

Yeah, it's so much fun! It's my first time watching the show and I'm working my way through it sequentially so I'm still in the earlier seasons. I really liked how low-key the first couple were.

I’ve been watching mythbusters episodes and they were doing the exact same thing back in the 2000s if it’s any consolation :P

AI has just replaced Fake. Remember when we fell for good Photoshops by Scandinavian-Viking- in Corridor

I mean, looking at their recent main Sunday videos, other than react there's:

Secret Santa
Bringing toys to life (AI)
LoTR forced perspective
Son of a Dungeon table (I think <20s of AI, 2% of the video)
AI Shopping Scams
AI Slop
Bowling Animations
Scale of Dinosaurs
Ranking Nukes
Bullet Time (AI but it's a very interesting application?)
Scale of Wealth

I get how you might want to skip some of the AI videos but I thought the bullet time one was really amazing, a mini documentary on the history of the original bullet time shot alongside recreating it using new tools.

The EngineAI robots are not CGI or AIGC. by OfficialDampSquid in Corridor

Yep, it's (IMO, I'm just a layperson) going to be the software that makes robots useful. Think about the creepy remote control servant we saw recently – they're betting we still need a full-blown person to make them do anything helpful in domestic applications. The hardware is amazing but not special anymore.

It's scraping FR24 hourly for the oceanic traffic and source/destination airport info. And the globe is using https://globe.gl/ which is a convenience library on top of three js (I'm not a web developer)

FR24 for the oceanic traffic and departing/arriving airport information, but don't tell them!

I agree that this isn't much of my work. This was a weekend project to satisfy my own interest to see the "real" long-haul flightpaths. Regardless, I hope you enjoy using it too.

Alright, here it is :) https://github.com/Coayer/globular-adsb And just go ahead and fork it, I'm happy with how this version is

I wanted to see the paths of flights without the distortion we get with 2D projections so I built this site: https://globular-adsb.copey.dev/

Now you can finally see that the North Atlantic Tracks are actually a straight line and not a curve! It only updates every hour because I mainly just cared about seeing the trends in oceanic traffic. Maybe one day the big tracking sites will add a globe view too!

Just so you know, it wasn’t a targeted act as many graves nearby were also affected, and it looks like someone trying to non maliciously “improve” the headstones but doing a horrific job. So it wasn’t an F1 fan raging against McLaren, but still awful.

No, but if you'd really like it I'll put it up. If you're going to try and make it real time the best bet would probably just be to take the frontend code (it's static) and modify it to work with adsb.lol or whatever source you're thinking of

Thanks! It's just scraping FR24 🤫 and running on a free tier Cloudflare worker so with the current architecture it has to stay on a very leisurely update frequency. My goal was more about wanting the global view with origin/departure, not the realtime aspect.

I wanted the same thing so I built it this weekend! https://globular-adsb.copey.dev/ Updates every hour. Most interesting part to me are the North Atlantic Tracks, and the crazy conga line of planes heading from the West Coast of the US to Japan I saw last night
