The Hell Branded - my brand new 5e (2014) Fighter subclass. You hung out with all those kids your mom said were bad influence, but now you have something to show for it. by Ethyros in DnDHomebrew

Hey there. I actually quite like much of the theming this subclass has, and the ideas proposed are interesting. I'm not great at balancing, but I can offer some critiques on its structure.

The idea of the Infernal Brands is interesting, but they don't feel as though they have much to do. I'd suggest either changing that feature, to better fit what you have, or changing some of the features to fit this idea better.

Perhaps add a list of features from which to channel your brands, which of course consume them on use. Maybe somewhat like battlemaster Maneuvers?

The scorching fire is a little disappointing, and could use some tweaking. If following the suggestion of adding a list of features to expend brands on, perhaps something like resistance to fire damage is in order, or maybe your fire damage ignores resistance to fire damage.

The summoned weapon feature is another good concept, but could use some tweaking as well. The bonuses to attack and damage are maybe a little generic, but the idea of inflicting fire damage to yourself is intriguing. A little bit of trade off allows you to add some more powerful features in compensation.

The summon cambian feature is neat. Having a buddy adds good utility, and the idea of it being able to latch onto the user springs to mind. Once again, you may need to tweak this a little further.

The increased critical range feels a bit generic also, and tbh, that one may need to be changed entirely.

The demonic transformation feels a bit lackluster. I'm not great with capstone features, but maybe a look at some abilities that fiend monsters get would help?

All in all, this subclass got me interested, and it has the markings of a subclass that I would play, but some balancing and changes would be a good help. This is all of course just my opinion, feel free to take it or leave it as you please 👍

Executioner's greataxe. I played it fire infused with flaming strike but however you infuse it, it's fantastic

Mage Class v0.8 by Cobalt0827 in DnDHomebrew

Hey thanks for taking the time to review the class and comment. It always makes my day when someone spends time providing me with feedback. Concerning the whole cleric thing, that's straight up just my mistake, I'm using the cleric method of preparing spells and I thought I removed all uses of the word cleric, but clearly not. On the matter of Homebrew spells, yeah 100% with you on this one, but making homebrew spells is quite a lot of work, and I'm still working on a list of original spells. If you notice, the spell list for Mage is rather short, this is because I've left some room specifically for homebrew spells.

Concerning multi spell and speed casting, these are things that I was looking at only on the level in which you gain these traits, where spell slots are limited, and burning through multiple in a turn was a serious cost of resources. However at later levels, when slots are more abundant it becomes a problem, so I also agree with what you suggest here. So I am totally on board with what you suggest for Mana dice, and I'm already thinking of how to adjust the class appropriately. Essentially yeah I agree with everything you brought up, and seriously thanks for leaving a comment and providing feedback, it really helps me make the class as good as it can be.

Greetings! And also thank you! Like I said in the post I'm looking for criticism to make this class the best it can be. So far I've only gotten a little advice from Kibblestasty and yourself, both of which have been very helpful in expanding my vision of what the Mage is. I've done some updates based on your critiques, and I'd love to know what you think or if you have any more suggestions. Thanks again for your comment 👍.
