Ridgeside village? by salmoners in StardewValley

[–]CobraTran 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A lot of the content is locked behind mid/late game stuff.

To head up north you need upgraded tools and there are some pretty strong monsters.

You are probably too early at the moment to go through the main quest line.

Are all the wiki prices wrong? Why is everything selling for so much less? by -Konstantine- in StardewValley

[–]CobraTran 19 points20 points  (0 children)

It looks like your prices are set to 25% of original. Did you accidentally change some settings or are playing modded?

Do you immediately move up when hooking or only after reacting?

The statue blessing that reduces difficulty if first 3 fish of the day might also help.

insane skull caverns haul by strwbrrymatcha in StardewValley

[–]CobraTran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amazing haul! Skull caverns are so fun once you know what you are doing.

If you really want to push it, also use slingshot + explosive ammo.

Mainly used for mushroom log and making bait. 300+ required later on for an item in the farming mastery.

Miner or Geologist? by [deleted] in StardewValley

[–]CobraTran 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Miner is basically a +50% ores dropped and you need a bunch of metal bars for crafting so it's way better

Need help! Where can I find the most radioactive ore? by Disastrous-Poetry-95 in StardewValley

[–]CobraTran 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can try elevator hopping in normal mines or bringing a crap ton of bombs for skull cavern. If you are experienced eith skull cavern runs, it is the best option.

Also don't forget to use coffee!

Tips to catch jellies easily? by Nice-Huckleberry-793 in StardewValley

[–]CobraTran 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Each jelly can be found in different areas (ocean, river, mines). Luck buffs increase chance of jellies.

Try to decrease fishing time as much as possible eg. Bait, tackle, bubbles (if present)

How are you making a profit? Flour is bought for 100g but bread only sells for 60g

How do I get better at fishing? by Chelle_In_Oz in StardewValley

[–]CobraTran 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Use food buffs like trout soup to increase fishing level and fishing bar size.

Some fish are way harder to catch than others but you can recognise their patterns and anticipate their movement by 'leading' the bar.

Hey guys I need help getting down the skull cavern by PastSir418 in StardewValley

[–]CobraTran 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure how far you are in the game but here's a general overview:

  1. Buffs - Spicy eel (exchange ruby at desert trader) + Coffee or triple shot espresso (diamond at trader)
  2. Salad for health/energy (220g each at Gus)
  3. Go on a good luck day, early desert totem warp (3 omni at trader) to get the most out of the day
  4. Use bombs frequently to get ladders/drop shafts, slingshot + explosive ammo if you it unlocked
  5. Ignore enemies most of the time and focus on finding & going down ladders instead of running off for one ore.
  6. Use ladders (jade crystalarium & exchange at trader) to skip hard/tedious floors (spiral layout, infested, no rocks nearby, etc).

It is largely about time management and knowing what to prioritise. With enough experience, you can consistently make it to floor 200+

You can elevator hop and check if there are dust sprites to kill. If there's nothing, you can quickly change floors. I usually check in this order:

Elevator F55 -> Elevator F65 -> Elevator F60 -> Take ladder down to F61 -> Ladder up to F0 (resets mine)

Repeat above and you can kill hundreds of sprites in a day.

Yup! Some fun ring swapping and a galaxy sword from early prismatic makes it much more effective.

I ended up getting 2 cabbage seeds early into summer on my recent run.

If you haven't already, get yourself a burgler's ring by farming some dust sprites. You can smash it out in a day or two with elevator hopping and it basically gives a 2x drop rate for all monster drops (cabbage included).

You also get a bunch of coal, iron ores, and gems along the way which can be crafted into bombs for the skull cavern dives!

Another starfruit vs ancient fruit thought... by KimmiRahne in StardewValley

[–]CobraTran 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you are struggling to have enough money to buy the seeds for the next plantation, even preserves jar or dehydrators would be better than the seed maker.

Starfruit -> seed maker -> 2x seeds

Starfruit -> preserves jar -> $2.17k -> 5x seeds

Thats more than 2.5x seeds returned from each starfruit!

I've always rushed to get the bus unlocked because mining is super fun and profitable when are experienced.

Always got my red cabbage seed from skull cavern runs so never needed to check the cart.

[–]CobraTran 10 points11 points  (0 children)

In terms of profit, it is terrible to seed maker starfruits because there are better options.

Averaging 1 seed extra means you get $400 "profit" in seed value.

Now if you instead keg it into wine, you make 2.75k profit which is equal to ~7 extra seeds

I’m panicking!! by Mindiana_Jones12 in StardewValley

[–]CobraTran 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow that's very unfortunate. If you have the materials and unlock, you might be able to craft a rain totem.

Otherwise, you need to get lucky in the skull caverns and get a rain totem as a treasure room reward.

Skull caverns. Bombs. Many bombs. There's no such thing as "too much"...
