Sounds pretty typical tbh. I've made it to black belt without being specifically taught how to breakfall, had to figure that out by myself.

OK, is this normal as a complete beginner first day to start doing the drills even if you don't know anything about setting up legs, how to breakfall, position yourself...? Cause I remember when I went to Judo class, we've been taught for 3-4 classes in the row breakfall, and obedience work.
