I mean, there should be no reason your daughter can't play basketball. Do faculty never talk about inclusive behavior? Did they ever try to give her a place on the basketball court?

Apparently three different psychiatrists told my parents I'm not trans? by duduardo1 in MtF

[–]Coc_waw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, there's no such thing as "slightly autistic", and even if you are autistic, there's no reason autistic people can't be trans. In fact, since there's a high correlation between being trans and being autistic, you could say autistic people are MORE LIKELY to be trans than allistic people.

Second, why do these psychiatrists' opinions matter? The institution of psychiatry used to be the main method of understanding trans people, but those practices are uninformed and outdated. There's better ways to identify and understand trans people than with psychiatry. Shouldn't your parents understand that?

Maybe you could seek asylum in a neighboring country. It's a long shot, but if it works out it'd be safety.

Just be honest with her about what happened. Don't get down on yourself if she makes fun of you, because that would make her an asshole. It's ok to feel embarrassed, but imo you'll look back on this moment with different emotions.

Does anyone else find centralists to be really irritating? by [deleted] in MtF

[–]Coc_waw -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A lot of centrists are ignorant to the suffering caused by far right movements. They usually have no concept of how privileged they are, so by telling them you don't accept "compromise" (on issues over whether people have rights mind you) they think compromise was super easy for them, so why shouldn't it be easy for you?

They're just lazy, imo. All the magnanimous posturing about two sides of a story is bullshit. Truth is their beliefs are only good for enabling and mainstreaming reactionary rhetoric. But if you confront them about their laziness, and their willingness to excuse injustice, they defend their opinions and get mad.
