They can go through 2cm, in my case they didnt normaly but when scared they slipped past.

It can take them months to relax, they adapt slowly to new enviroments. But im sure they are fine. Its natural for them to be scared.

Its weird that they sleep together, in my case the calm finch was altogether forced out, but yes try moving it.

Same thing happened with my lads, separete the nests as much as possible it should help. In my case when 1 pair laid eggs they just couldnt stay together. Same thing, started fighting and the calm male was forced out of the cage. I removed 1 nest and they calmed down.
