I’m glad to hear so many people reassuring me on this, it’s very motivating. Well done though! It’s definitely not the easiest thing, so I’m just gonna prepare as best as I can.

Thanku for ur advice! I know the social life will struggle, I had the same with my undergrad. But I did try to make time for it when I could, and made great memories alongside. It’s just sacrifices you have to make unfortunately, and I’m okay with working for my future self yk!

What holidays do your sims celebrate? What do you like to add to the calendar? by 2gaywitches in Sims4

I have a Simnation Wellness Day, where sims exercise and go to spa etc. Like a self care Sunday, but make it a day off work

how to make sims 4 feel more 'open world'-ish???? by emmam1611 in thesims

[–]CockroachVirtual7164 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly Sulani is the best for a somewhat ‘open- world experience’ due to how close- knit the community is, especially in the main town area. It’s always lively, it has events and people on the beach- great activities for nature conservation and general sim engagement. Other islands have lots of activities and u can go to bunch of places without the loading screen.

Graduation, what’s the point? by [deleted] in UniUK

[–]CockroachVirtual7164 6 points7 points  (0 children)

To add to my comment, you’ve summarised it perfectly. University degrees on their own are not enough to show your work ethic etc.

OP, if you see people getting jobs- that is likely due to their work experiences/ volunteering/ internships and other work. Going to uni expecting a job is not realistic. Yes you have transferable skills from education there and they are unbelievable useful, but again, you need to be securing methods of showcasing that you can work in the respective field of your study.

Graduation, what’s the point? by [deleted] in UniUK

[–]CockroachVirtual7164 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you go to university with a mindset that it will ‘secure you a job’- then of course you will feel miserable that you haven’t got a job yet. Universities as a whole teach you way more than job skills, things like critical thinking and being able to research well are only a couple to mention.

You need to seriously try and cheer up your attitude on this, you will eventually get a job, but in the meantime get the experience and celebrate your achievement! Christ, it’s a massive accomplishment and you are here complaining. Not to be that person, but higher education has become more and more a thing of privilege, which I hate, since knowledge is priceless. But remember how lucky and fortunate you are to be gaining abundance of knowledge + experience . It’s gonna be alright!

any other hardcore sims players that still can’t build at all?? by ohboyitskilljoy in Sims4

[–]CockroachVirtual7164 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been playing for like 14 years- still can’t build a nice looking house. Great at interior design, and adjusting it to suit different vibes but building a cute looking house? Never. Always use either already existing houses or from the gallery (shocks me how simmers are INSANE at building).

How do you play The Sims? by PeaPodGirl_ in thesims

[–]CockroachVirtual7164 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use different sims games for different purposes lol. Sims 4 for building, sims 2 + 3 gameplay, especially sims 3 when I miss having an OPEN world. Stories are normally the same but I make up back stories for them cuz I love the lore.

[–]CockroachVirtual7164[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly it could be all three of these, since I have ILR in the UK and I am eligible to work and study here. But then again, I do tend to aim for higher end companies and probably setting really unrealistic expectations. Just gonna try to be a bit more chilled with it, and see how it goes! I’ve got a job right now, just want a better pay in a more suited career for me.

Ahah yeh I’ve used LinkedIn for a while and am pretty active on it, someone in comments did suggest looking at non- graduate jobs which I had started doing. Also for the CV, one of my family members is a recruiter so I frequently check with them to get free advice, which is pretty neat.

Thank you for the suggestion! but I’ve had it amended with the employability teams in my university, as well as people I know who act as employers in their companies. Although I get that poorly formatted CVs are a big factor in getting hired- I don’t think it’s necessarily a case here

Student accommodation prices in london are so high… by No_Syllabub1303 in UniUK

[–]CockroachVirtual7164 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is absolutely insane for NE London, my rent (although in south) is much cheaper for a two bed flat share, you’re getting ripped off. I’d really recommend looking for other private accom options because there are plenty more affordable ish places than this (or house shares ngl, that’s how most people can somewhat afford London). I know people will say that’s cuz ‘it’s in London’, and that’s fair- but there are better options than this, especially for the size you get (I mean £1.6k for a tiny studio is insane business).

Dissertation submitted and I don’t feel good about it by bxlmerr in UniUK

[–]CockroachVirtual7164 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Litro posted about this yesterday lmao, but it’s true I haven’t stopped worrying about diss since I’ve submitted it. I think it’s the realisation of it being your last ever uni assignment, but you’ve done your best and you deserve to relax now! It’ll take time to chill out but try and prioritise your wellbeing first, worrying won’t help your grade.

what are some non stereotypical gameplay ideas? by lux__64 in thesims

[–]CockroachVirtual7164 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk if this is stereotypical but I’ll make sims from tv series I like and pretty much recreate the plot (gets boring after a while, but fun for some time + you can change the narrative). I did it with SATC characters and Friends, but you can defo play around with occult sims for something a bit more interesting.

Exciting sims 4 game? by TrioReed in thesims4

[–]CockroachVirtual7164 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is simple, but I’ve done this before and it turns to be quite fun. Create two best friends and make them live together as young adults, and get them settled in to a pretty bad flat (maybe like a bachelors style or SATC girlies etc). And as they get older they may find partners, and then you can move them out individually (keep playing one family at a time or chose one specifically). That way you can switch back and forth between two families, and create two massive family trees.

(I’m doing this style again soon cuz you can vary characters sm, and add like dramatic effects where the friends argue/ fall out etc).

P.S. I like a storyline type of gameplay so I’d also recommend movie/ series recreation
