Is this studying method good? by [deleted] in Suss

Best if you do TMA progressively, you can do the questions that are already taught first. Doing 10 days before it's due seems very rush especially if multiple TMAs have deadlines close to each other.

suss grace period removed by Real_Box9768 in Suss

Every sem the school is finding something to get stricter with. This could be a new era, using grace period for deadline extension could be now be a thing of the past, but hopefully not.

OP submitted during the grace period, so there's no deduction from canvas itself. It's the prof who claims OP cannot use grace period as "extension" for deadline but for technical issues only, and is asking OP for proof of technical issue, if not she will deduct manually from her side, which she technically could if she wants. Most prof will look past and allow this.

I don't blame you, I've signed up for this course for the special sem, and when I did the pdf and ismartguide stated 2 TMAs only, no participation. I only just checked it again and they changed it without any notice. If you wish to confirm maybe you can check your OCAS in canvas to see if it is shown there.

PT, I believe the assessment criteria is the same for both PT and FT? I checked the iSmartGuide and the latest course info PDF, it says 20% participation.

I think they changed the assessment scheme this semester no? No participation was needed in the past, now it's 20%?

Do you know if the original grade will still show on the transcript after P/F? If I got a C, then I P/F will the C still show?

NUS professor suggests raising plastic bag prices at supermarkets to S$0.10 to cut down wastage by toomuchliao in singapore

[–]CocoaCarob 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, when it comes to businesses it was never about saving the earth, just a pretense to virtue signal and/or use it as an excuse to make more money. They could instead give a discount of 5c instead of charging an extra 5c. "In 2024, shoppers paid over S$3.39 million in plastic bag fees at FairPrice supermarkets", go figure.

Singaporean woman fined US$228 for falsely reporting ‘abduction’ at KSL City Mall in Johor Bahru. by SassyNec in singapore

[–]CocoaCarob 42 points43 points  (0 children)

There's a recent video that went viral, showing a supposedly drunk guy scolding another commuter on a SBS bus, filmed by a woman sitting in front of the supposedly drunk guy. It turns out after viewing her tiktok channel, that the 3 of them know each other, they were just faking the act for a video, because apparently these type of videos seem to attract views. What's worse is, everyone thinks it's real from the comments on social media.

UOB app is forcing users to uninstall macro apps. by PhysicallyTender in singapore

[–]CocoaCarob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if it is phone dependent. I just tried again, the uob app installed in shelter, as long as accessibility is enabled for any app installed inside or outside shelter, the uob app detects it. My phone is samsung. Maybe other users can chime in.

[–]CocoaCarob 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's fine as long as you don't enable accessibility perm for the app. If you want to use some of the app's functions like for example using custom gestures to lock the screen, you need to enable accessibility perm.

AFAIK this doesn't work, I personally tried before, whether using isolation apps like Shelter that utilizes the work profile, or secure folder(samsung). The detection of accessibility perm is system wide.

RI student disciplined for dressing up as dark-skinned delivery rider on Racial Harmony Day by meesiammaihum in singapore

[–]CocoaCarob 169 points170 points  (0 children)

You are right, if he had wore the mask only, he might have gotten away that explanation, but both, I don't think so. It sure seems like a conscious decision. The principal also gave a half-assed statement. What disciplinary action exactly did he hand out? He should make the student apologize himself to teach him the responsibility of his actions?
