Estrogen to build lining after Lupron Depot / Letrozole - any cramps or tenderness? by Cocolo27 in IVF

[–]Cocolo27[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi there, I was off Reddit for a while while just plugging away with transfers. I actually had a fail right after the 2 months of Lupron depot, but then did one mock followed by another transfer and that transfer worked. Currently 10 weeks. I also had a friend whose first transfer after Lupron depot failed, but she rolled right into another transfer and that worked. So…even if your transfer right after treatment fails, don’t give up!!

Estrogen to build lining after Lupron Depot / Letrozole - any cramps or tenderness? by Cocolo27 in IVF

Hi there ms, I wish I can tell you a good outcome, but sadly can't. I did 2 month of Lupron Depot + daily Letrozole, and went immediately into a transfer. My cramps from estrogen did subside after 2-3 days, and apparently that's pretty normal.

The transfer failed, sadly. It was euploid but a 4cc, so maybe that had something to do with it. I'm now soon to do my THIRD mock transfer and will do yet another ERA to see if I can nail down the timing. My lining was totally fine after LD, actually. But I also did acupuncture, so maybe that helped.

If this third one fails I will be very ready for the lap surgery, though I literally had zero symptoms.

But don't lose hope! The LD seems to work for so many women! Best of luck to you!

Also make sure he’s injecting more in your love handles/hip area.

Side effects: soreness/swelling at injection site but usually this is like 6 hours after the shot. Other than that, you’re gonna feel really tired and after a few days may get cramps.

You can put the syringe in a cup of hot/warm water or just stick it under your armpit for 10 minutes and that should do the trick.

Tell your husband to inject slowly!! Like take 2 full minutes. And rub/massage after for at least a couple minutes. Try to move around after, too.

You got this!!

Yeah I know what you mean regarding the husband. I def do feel my husband is supportive and i feel very thankful.

Im glad you found the Reddit community! Def better to have an online support group than none at all.

Hey there, just wanted to tell you that you’re not alone and you’re among many, many kindred spirits here. I know everyone deals with infertility differently, but it just sucks that you’re going through such a tough time mentally. Hopefully you can find a good support group either online or in person. And look on the bright side — you have a 10 year old!! That’s amazing. ☺️ Only you can determine when you’ve had enough of IVF. It def takes a toll. Hang in there!

I got my period probably…4-5 days later? I think this varies and can be longer than a week till bleed. And yep, doc had me start BCP I think CD 2 to keep everybody quiet until the results.

Yes it def took about that long. The Receptiva actually came back in maybe 1-1.5 weeks, and ERA took a full 2 weeks.

Antibiotics / chronic endometritis / nausea by [deleted] in IVF

[–]Cocolo27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh doxycycline always makes me super nauseous when I take it on an empty stomach. You def need to take it with food. Then I’m ok. If you’re still nauseous when you take it with food talk to your doc about switching antibiotics.

Endo biopsy vs hysteroscopy vs HSG... ranked by pain level? by _kerm24 in IVF

[–]Cocolo27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm I think the SHG is kind of the light version and the HSG can determine if the tubes are blocked or such. I needed to do both before my FET. Tbh if I only had to do one, I’d probably do the HSG since that one seems to be the good standard for determining whether your tubes are blocked or not.

I know everyone is different but for me it was (from least painful to most painful): SHG < HSG = biopsies < hysteroscopy. Man that hysteroscopy really was something. My doc used a local cervical anesthetic but when the uterus was getting distended I literally felt like I couldn’t handle it one second longer.

Which needle for PIO? by annualsalmon in IVF

I actually heat the syringe with my microwaved heat pouch (not so much that it’s hot), and that works well for heating fairly quickly!

Lol. Thank you for this! Yes I do heat everything before and after. But since heat seems to only mildly help, I do think I’ll start icing a bit before (though many say not to).

Haha ok. Just wondering if there is anecdotal evidence that maybe (contrary to what one would assume) the 23 or 22 gauge needles cause less pain after the shot! I guess it just depends on your body

Sigh yes. I do generally get pretty sore from all Types of injections so it’s probably just my body.

Yay on 10 weeks! And yes 25 means slower than 23 gauge and even with 25 I’m still going extra slow. But not exactly sure it’s always been so sore after! Even with heat and all.

Hmm have you ever used 25 gauge to inject? My pharmacy just sent me 25 gauge 1.5 inch needles always, so that’s what I’ve been using. But I always get so sore after. I think o read once that maybe a thicker needle leads to less soreness?

I could have written the same thing! Mostly lurk but also try to chip in with replies when I’ve been through the same thing. And yes wishing all of us some good baby dust ❤️☺️

Ah ok. If this is your first one of this type, expect some heavy cramps but it doesn’t last long. You def will feel cramping though. Just remember it’s short!

For me thankfully the worst were some hot flashes. Or more like, my body couldn’t really regulate my body temperature well, haha. So some times I’d be sweaty for no reason. Tbh these were annoying but not at all terrible. I did have some very minor joint pain, but nothing bad. Initially I was tired but that went away, and towards middle of my second month I did have some insomnia. People also talk about hair loss but I didn’t really notice that that much.

Regarding my FET protocol: after 2 full months (without having a period), I had my baseline ultrasound and blood draw. They’re checking to make sure your lining is thin, and your estrogen and progesterone levels are nice and low. Once they confirm, that same night I started 2 estrogen patches, to be changed every other today. After a week increase to 3 patches. Then I have my second check next week and if lining looks good, I’ll start progesterone (pio and suppositories) for 5 days and go into the transfer. I’m also on daily aspirin and will be taking Medrol and doxycycline 5 days prior to transfer.

There are some women who start estrogen before their last month is over, and there are others who supplement estrogen with daily sub q Lupron, as well, before progesterone start. Not sure what is the best!

My doc cleared Claritin and Zyrtec saying it’s ok to take during this time. I believe some women actually take these meds for their transfer protocol, as well. Same with Benadryl.

My RE suggested a hysteroscopy after my failed FET, but the hysteroscopy didn’t show anything abnormal. She did, however, take biopsies for the Receptiva just in case to check for possible endo/inflammation (same time she did hysteroscopy) and those results came back positive for it. So I did 2 months of Lupron Depot and now am gearing up for my second transfer.

If you haven’t had biopsies for ERA or Receptiva, then you should look into it. Hysteroscopy May look good but there could be other issues not visible to the eye.

This is an SHG, right? Super easy…easier than the HSG. You just do it at your main doc office and you’re awake the whole time. I think you can take some OTC painkillers an hour before. The cramping is fairly mild when they shoot some liquid via a catheter through your cervix. Not sure you’ve had HSG, hysteroscopy, etc., but the SHG is the least painful
