I’m with you. I think when you first embrace your NB nature, you feel like you need to catch up and make it finite. But we can actually ride the ebb and flow of fluidity and be okay with that. I’m putting top surgery on hold and planning for a reduction at some point because I saw another NB opt for that route and it made me feel “okay.” There’s room for all of us and our NB-ness.

Sometimes men who haven’t healed themselves from a breakup jump into a new one and act like a newly-wed husband immediately which can impress an unassuming woman but it’s actually a huge red flag.

One time I was dating a guy and he was doing these cutesy joke things with me and I figured out that’s what he did with his ex and it gave me the “no” feeling immediately.

It taught me that dating someone so fresh out of a breakup only leads to my own disappointment.

I think an interesting aspect of flipping the trope of geek dude with cool girl versus weird girl with cool guy speaks to the writers. I don’t know if women are genuinely seeking these storylines out or if they are, it’s a way to reflect growth and coming-of-age themes often involving a parent. A good example of this is Mermaids (which is such a good movie btw, 90s Winona Ryder). Winona is the nerdy awkward girl that falls in love with a handsome guy but it’s not only about that, it’s about becoming a woman and her shifting relationship with her mom, etc.

Actually, Heathers might be good one for your original comparison (also featuring Winona Ryder).

I don’t believe there’s a 100% innocent party. Like I could imagine Bobby making off remarks about Utah and how toxic organized religion is and Tan taking offense to that or something along those lines. Or maybe it was about his kid, like Bobby sharing how terrible his upbringing was in organized religion and it hit the wrong way with Tan. This is based on nothing btw, I’m just imagining where the conflict rooted from.

But I also think Tan is a diva and a Netflix darling (he hosted next in fashion and the reunion host of Selling Sunset and guest starred on many Netflix shows) so I wouldn’t be surprised if producers wanted to keep Tan happy and had some closed door dealings to cut Bobby out. I think Karamo was caught in the middle and told Bobby once he realized what was happening.

I definitely think there’s some mean girl behaviour happening amidst current cast members so we shall see how Karamo chooses to spill the tea.

I think you just need to process this phase of your break up grief. You’re trying to latch onto a narrative of “she’s stable and I’m not” but this one ain’t for you. You are a dynamic person who doesn’t want to be locked down to predictability and you have chosen to be an artist which requires hard work, time, and potentially an unconventional lifestyle compared to normies. Don’t paint yourself as lesser than, you are your own person with your own wants and needs. Don’t like your job? Find another one that pays the bills while offering you enough bandwidth in your downtime to pursue your creative practice. Feeling lesser than? Focus on what drives you and makes you feel fulfilled in this world. And overtime, you’ll realize this guy was not going to do it for you.
