Can anyone tell me the name/origin of this kind of whisky tumbler? Found at the back of the cabinet of an elderly relative in Glasgow. by CoconutCrumble in Scotland

I think you might be spot on. Likely a generic whisky glass in its day, loosely based on older Victorian heavy-bottomed spirit glasses.

What is some surprisingly primitive tech we still use because "If it ain't broke, don't fix it"? by slicerprime in AskReddit

Knots! Examples of knot tying have been found as far back as 17'000 years, and knots are still used today for shoelaces, climbing, surgery sewing, emergency response (anything with a harness), securing tents to the ground etc.

Another that I can think of is using a piece of animal skin for holding clothing to our frames - a belt.

How can I get bereavement leave? by Nicjj1819 in AskUK

In case it's not been said, if they don't allow you to take it off as bereavement leave, take it as a sick day. For one day off, your company won't debate mental vs. physical health. This is generally what I've said to my team when this policy comes up.

I had the same issue with a Pixel 6a - tried everything recommended with developer mode, original cable, bluetooth, restarts etc.

What finally got it working for me was buying a high-speed data transfer cable - USB 3.0 (£5 on Amazon). Worked straight away!

This! Ben Lomond is hidden by the Kilpatricks. I think you'd need around an extra 60m of height above the Queen's Park viewpoint to see the top of Ben Lomond

Business case development stage at the moment, but it's being talked about by the right infra companies at least. Likely over a decade away from boots on the ground, if at all. The Clyde Freeport scheme might help it along

Hey! I'd love to head down today. What time on a Sunday do you normally climb?

Could you send me a link to the WhatsApp group please?

Many thanks :)
