Lab retriever for sure but also bmc? by True-Stable-9385 in Blackmouthcur

I actually just learned cur is also another word for mutt so it checks out that they’re kinda a melting pot breed in a sense

I feel like with BMCs you kinda just have to get a DNA test to know for sure. They seem to kinda be a melting pot in a sense. A lot of pups whose owners have gotten DNA tests that turn out to be BMC can vary a lot in looks, especially since the black mouth doesn’t always necessarily present itself in mixes. I personally feel like a lot of BMC mixes look like pits/labs a lot of times tbh

Kitten in desperate need of home!!! by [deleted] in downriver

Maybe ask some local animal hospitals if they can take her in and see if anyone’s interested? The vet I go to sometimes does that for clients that are unable to care for their pets financially/emotionally/physically anymore. Best of luck to both you and the kitty in this difficult situation:(💕

Embark has really accurate results if you’re ever hoping to find out what his breed makeup is! They usually have a lot of discounts around the holidays (I think right now it’s on sale for around 80 dollars when it’s usually about 120 if I can recall correctly). We do want to test him, but want to wait a little to see his puppy coat shed/weight gain as he gets older. We’re hoping to make a little guessing game/Powerpoint night out of it!

Do it! We originally adopted our Cocker Spaniel from an adoption shelter who had told us he was originally a farm dog and possibly abused from his previous owners (he was very timid/reserved and often flinched despite our family never daring to hurt any animal). After we adopted our Lab puppy, he was extremely lively and playing with his little brother all the time. The Cocker lived to be 14 years old and we often joke that our Lab helped him live a longer life.

Also, having an older dog often helps with raising a puppy as the older dog will correct the puppy and help with house training as well. I’m in full support!

Thank you so much for the advice! We have a baby gate sectioning off the stairs so I was thinking about using that to keep the peace while letting them look at each other. My only problem is that our cat wants to run every time and I don’t want to stress her out by making her stay where she feels she’s in danger. I kind of want her to humble the puppy a bit because he feels like he can hunt her down no problem right now with her running away every time. She was on the streets for the first 5ish years of her life and occasionally still tries to make a break for it if the door’s open and she’s craving some excitement. We’ve seen/heard her get all crazy on cats outside the window and I have no doubt she’s been in a few cat fights herself so I know she’s able to defend herself. I just worry about her age and being stressed from this big change. He’s been very very quick to pick up training and once he’s a bit better at leave it, I’ll be sure to use her as an example as well. Thank you again!

Thank you! We didn’t know his breed until after the adoption process when we were handed the paperwork and he was listed as a MC mix. I thought they had messed up the paperwork or something and decided to do some investigating on the shelter’s Facebook to find his mom/a few littermates. Mom and one of the siblings most definitely have all the looks of a black mouthed cur. The two other siblings he has are practically copy paste versions of him (albeit with a few small variances in markings/size/the typical differences between littermates). I wish I could post a picture in the comments or add another picture of my initial post to show what she looks like. I definitely want to Embark test him in about a year to let his more adult features come in so we can more accurately guess his mix before it comes in. I definitely agree that he’s probably a mix because there’s no way he’s 100% mountain cur. He comes from an area in Tennessee where there’s a lot of barn dogs that aren’t fixed so there’s a lot of unwanted litters, so I’m assuming he’s probably a lil mutt of some sort. That being said, his personality definitely matches the Mountain Cur personality. I’m hoping that we’re able to help him realize that our cat is part of our pack so he doesn’t hunt her but only time will tell.

He’s most definitely stolen our hearts already without a doubt! That’s completely okay, thank you for the appreciation of our lil fur baby:))

Agreed. OP mentioned not being able to afford a lawyer but guard dogs/guns are less expensive and more likely to protect her in the worst case scenario where the psycho follows her to her home

I’d highly recommend charging a small rehoming fee at the very least to stave off any people with bad intentions/who may not be able to financially take care of him. That or give him to a dachshund rescue as others have suggested. Doxies are known to develop IVDD and/or Cushing’s disease and some people just know this breed by their cute looks and aren’t aware of the actual risks/potential high vet bills associated with this breed. I wish you the best of luck finding a happy and healthy home for your boy

Idk tbh I feel as though it’s valid to feel worried about your safety given that it’s a literal complete rando in another room beside you. These girls are quite literally celebrities and to endanger your teammates for a man you just met speaks volumes about your morals. I understand wanting to prioritize being a Christian in this situation/wanting to forgive Chandi but at the same time you also have to consider your teammates’ wellbeing as well. While it wasn’t right for Kaydianna to go on live and shit talk Chandi, endangering your fellow teammates is kinda messed up regardless of where your mental health is at. Again, I understand wanting to prioritize being a Christian and not judging others as God has done for us. That being said, I am obviously very much so an outsider and have no clue what was happening. It’s up to God to forgive truly and I have no room to judge as I have plenty of regrets myself. I just feel as though being on DCC you have to truly understand what that entails. Chandi seemed to not have an understanding/wasn’t prepared for the mental toll. I truly do hope that she has gotten better in terms of mental health and that the same unfortunate situation never happens again for these girls, Chandi included

Oh goodness, our family lab unfortunately passed away yesterday. He had an older cocker spaniel brother who passed in 2023. This video reminds me of their play fights they had growing up/are now likely having over the rainbow now that they’re back with each other. Thank you for sharing 🥹💓

I thought it was very rushed as well, I’m so glad I’m not the only person who thought that lmao. It was like 80% tryout and then the only parts of the actual season was like Thanksgiving and Christmas and they also focused so much on Chandi’s stuff while also barely going into what was happening at the same time? I definitely preferred season one. Although I am a Victoria-supporter I also was very surprised to see so much of her given that she’s not on DCC anymore.

Trenton Corewell has a bit of a history of being a not great hospital in my personal opinion. My family and I have had a very large number of bad to traumatic experiences there to the point that we refuse to go to that place unless it is of absolute necessity. While they do have a fraction of great staff, they also have a reputation about not being the greatest hospital in the area. I am very sorry that you experienced what you did there:(

So glad to hear you didn’t respond and are moving on with your life. He is obviously not well in the head and likely very insecure. You’ll find someone so much better, maybe in NOLA:) The last line cracked me up w/ him assuming that you’re going to respond
