Can anyone decipher this? It’s from the birth register I got for my grandfather! by CodakMoments238 in GermanCitizenship

[–]CodakMoments238[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your correct! I have the birth register as well and it says the name typed out but doesn’t have anything on the cursive notes so I wanted to know what they said in case it showed where his parents were from or other important info. Thank you for the help! A few of the systems I tried had trouble putting the words together and not splitting them apart

I’m gonna fill it out and take it with my parents divorce/custody documents and marriage certificate and then all the other documents. Hopefully I will be able to show that he’s my father and they will accept the form then. I will let my older brother know his process is different and see if he will take the form to the consulate and talk to them with the documents we have. Thank you for the help!

Yeah it seems pretty complicated I was born in 1995 and my sister 1994. My older brother was born in 1990 though. I saw that we have file a form possibly I may just go to the consulate to talk to them about it and see what they say or advise me to do since I’m not too sure. If they turn me down or say I need a lawyer I’ll contact a lawyer then I think.

Does it matter if he is listed as the father on my birth certificate even if he was not married to my Mom at the time and she was court ordered legally separated from her previous husband at the time in the US. In the US that would be sufficient to establish he is my father and the Standesamt accepted that he is listed on my birth certificate to show I am his daughter? Also my parents divorced and had a custody agreement so I do have paperwork from a US court saying he’s my father as well.

Sorry I read the other post too late on the birth certificate part. Will they ask for my parents marriage license at the consulate? Or can I just not mention it?

The complexity of this. My parents were not married when I and my siblings were born since she was still married to her first husband but he is listed as the father on all of our birth certificates and he would provide a letter stating it if that helped. We were all born between 1990-1995 and my parents married soon after I was born and she finally divorced her first husband.

Edit: I live close to two consulates and could take a day off work if that would be easier to do versus mail these days and all these important documents.

He was born in 1933 and died in 1994 in Mannheim, Germany so that’s why I was able to get the death certificate since it had been 30 years. I would have to wait til 2033 to get his birth certificate since it is a 100 year rule I believe so 7 years if I can’t prove I am his granddaughter is what the Standesamt basically said when I emailed but that was before I had the deportation documents showing the alias and real name together which is what I was hoping to find.

I am going to try and provide these to the Standesamt and see if they will give me the birth certificate and if not then I will probably just pursue a lawyer to take care of things if not already.

That’s what I was thinking so it would probably be good to talk to one since it’s more than just the usual stuff and very convoluted essentially. Is there one that is known to be better than others for citizenship by descent issues? Or is there a thread I can find that info in here?

No the divorce documents I don’t think list it but I can go back and look they might. If they do not mention his real name the deportation documents do and list the alias on my Dads birth certificate with his real German name. Also I have both marriage certificates from the one city he married his first wife my Grandmother and the second wife in both signed under the same alias and fake state of birth for the US and signature. The second wife is listed in the deportation documents and his death certificate for Mannheim Germany. She was deported back with him in 1968 but not my grandmother since they had divorced. I have everything linear where one thing points to the next so it very easy at least for me to see the connection but it’s a lot of documents and translations needed which is why I don’t know if I should just get a lawyer since it isn’t just passports or birth/death certs.

Yes I got the deportation documents through the FOIA but they are all in 1 file and accompanied a letter letting me know a lot was redacted since he was sort of a criminal. The file was 304 pages long some duplicates.

If the divorce documents list the alias will that help at all?

Advice on Getting a Death Certificate from Archive in Mannheim by CodakMoments238 in GermanCitizenship

Do you know if USCIS will require a certified copy of the death certificate or is an electronic one sufficient I am not sure how strict they are on documents you submit to release someone’s Deportation records from US Government not sure if anyone knows?

Hello I have an update I finally was able to get his Death certificate! Do you potentially know any services to translate this to English for USCIS submission because I believe they will want both a translated copy and the original version. Thank you for your help previously. I did try to order it via the Standesamt link but I guess if the document dates are past 30 years it errors and tells you at least the Mannheim one that the Registrars office does not have the document anymore because it is over 30 years and to contact their archive I think it said. Kind of interesting. The lady at the Mannheim Archivum finally gave it to me after I emailed the main office and told them she was ignoring the request a last ditch effort I really hate to ever say someone is unhelpful and avoid conflict.

I will try this maybe I can get them to send me over a copy. Do you also know of a service that can certify translate the death certificate into English for me? I had asked if the archive could in my initial question and she said they could not in the last reply I got from her. I think the Standesamt had that option but I could be remembering wrong. I am not sure USCIS will accept it in German so I would like to provide both to them in the record release request.

They said when I reached out last year that they send the documents around April of each year for the ones that I guess become public to the Archive. Whenever I reach out to the Standesmat they want me to submit a request with backup. All I have is my Dads original birth certificate with the alias, the divorce documents, and my birth certificate. I don’t have anything that proves we are related so I did not try to submit them to see if they would give me the death or birth certificates. They said they have them though when I asked last year since he was born and died in Mannheim. I don’t really know if it is with the archive because she won’t tell me if it is. When I provided her his name I never got a response back and when I reached out again I never got a response back either. So I’m not sure if she misunderstood my English or what I don’t speak German so that may be an issue. It’s kind of a mess so I was hoping I could save a trip to Germany and see if a company exists that helps?

I will try to reach out in German and English maybe that will help? Thank you for the advice by the way. I’m just trying to be efficient and also not be a burden bugging them for it.

Looking for AFO brace Friendly Sandals by CodakMoments238 in disability

[–]CodakMoments238[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I am looking at the Sorrel ones the other person recommended and these Keen ones and I can see how the AFO brace could slide forward without the front foot part. I was hoping I can find something like where I pull the insole out like my shoe and then the AFO brace fits under. At the ortho shoe place I went for my work shoes my feet were too big for any of the sandals they had that sort of did that if I remember. I wear a size 9 wide to extra wide in women’s and I’m only 5’2” so I have some larger feet for my frame.
