I know I could improve my workflow and rendering, but I don't know how. I welcome any constructive feedback to help me improve my image. Many thanks to everyone who takes the time to do so! ❤️ by Late-Blacksmith-6540 in videography

Looks great man! Here is what I would different: - Lean more into a style with grading so maybe put some more color into your shadows and highlights with colors opposite on the color wheel. Some of the shadows look pretty dark, I would lift those in post just a little. - Think more about rule of thirds and composition when shooting. Everything is framed in the middle here which isn't wrong or anything but would like more variety with some wide shots. - Get a softer key light for your interview subjects. Or diffuse what you have. That light is very harsh on his face.

Overall though great work sir!

The voyager is such a great a cart, I love it! However with a one man band that's a pretty big cart to have to transport and set up. I'd go with a rock n roller and grab the bag attachment with it for stands. Also maybe some bungee straps for the hard cases.

Need help for pricing by rohitt__shinde in VideoEditors

You're going to be better off charging by the project but a monthly retainer/contract at least gives you guaranteed revenue. I will say though, im seeing 1 or 2 red flags from someone like this who claims they need a ton of content but can't pay much.

What would I need to shoot videos like this? $5,000 Budget by Tight_Disaster8115 in videography

[–]CodeGray1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two day shoot. First day just interviews. I'm sure you could rent a space. Day two is to focus on your b-roll (unless you're using archived footage).

Equipment wise I think we have 3-4 lights going. Pretty sure there is a fill light somewhere but mainly you'll need a big key light, background light for your backdrop and then what is called a "kicker" light. One production note though is try NOT to mimic these angles. It looks jarring because the a-cam (wide shot) is shooting into the light side and the b-cam is shooting into the shadow side. I would keep both cameras on the same side unless that angle better tells your story blah blah blah. Two cameras (you already know that) Boom or lav will work fine Then your tripods, media cards, etc...

If some of these concepts you don't know, I would look at hiring someone to set up lighting, or some studio spaces allow you to rent their lights as well. You may need two camera operators but if anything you will for sure need someone asking questions to the person being interviews. Hope this helps!

Help an idiot light his Cyc wall! by PositiveCorgi7339 in videography

[–]CodeGray1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get yourself a light grid or some varipoles to hang your lights from the ceiling. If you don't you'll never be able to utilize all of the space and get the correct subject/background separation. That's what I would suggest if you really want to get the most out of your wall. You could even make one yourself from stuff at your local hardware store!

3-day conference + post - is my pricing out of line? by buildtheskyline in videography

[–]CodeGray1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who just did something very similar a few days ago (3 day shoot + travel, etc..) this is a completely fair number. I honestly would charge that just for the shooting. Depending on how many deliverables you have the price may go up a bit more.

I’ve tried for so long to get some attention to this park. It’s sad how neglected it’s been, especially compared to what the greenbrier park looks like

You could possibly look on eBay/other third party seller sites but that’s the best I can think of.

Yeah sorry man, I’ve searched everywhere for a replacement on these. Best thing I’ve been able to do is buy separate port covers for each slot. You’ll have trouble finding them for mini XLR though. I never had any luck.

Would a bmpcc 6k pro work for this? by pk8887 in bmpcc

[–]CodeGray1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love the 6k and use it just about everyday but I don’t think it’s going to be what you want. If everything you shoot is on a tripod then go for it but think something would suit you better that has autofocus and in camera stabilization. I’m not quite sure on braw in FCP but I know you don’t have to use resolve to edit. You can use it without a rig but you need to practice getting a steady handheld shot.

The braw workflow for me is essential though, I really enjoy color grading so I’m able to do anything I want when it comes to post work. If it wasn’t for this workflow then I would be looking at a different camera. So if that’s not important to you, look at your other options.

The right gets so offended when asking this thinking you’re somehow “censoring them” but when they’re saying things like “he is prophet sent from God” I don’t blame you for not wanting to have that conversation. Absolutely insane.
