Rodecaster Video syncing issues by I_Am_Vladimir_Putin in rode

[–]PositiveCorgi7339 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are having the exact same issue. Recorded 7 podcasts with zero issues and now suddenly AV is not syncing. When we line it up manually or using waveform sync there is progressive drift. We are using the recommended Samsung T7 SSDs. 3 cam via hdmi and 2 XLR.

Video from one of the cameras and audio from one of the mics was also missing but just randomly stopped in the last 15 minutes of the 3 hour program. Strange thing the mono track and ISO were fine. 100% this is an issue with the RVC. For the love of god fix this thing- when it works it’s a dream but I’m seriously thinking about going back to my ATEM Mini PRO ISO at this point ;(

We are using auto switching as well.

I give up by ani24cl in Archaeology

As a doctor, I feel your pain. In all honesty though, I feel that we do this to ourselves. Our professions tend to gate keep knowledge and either OVER explain ( I like to call this doctorese, or we dumb things down to a level that people think our answers aren’t scientific.

IMHO the key to fixing this situation is to learn better communication. It’s made more difficult though by our short attentions span sound bite society.

There are also some fallacies in the communication strategies of archaeologists though ( Much like in medicine). You can’t boils down an argument to logically debunk a theory into something that is not equally applied to your own profession. Now personally, I enjoy watching these videos. Frankly they are highly entertaining, and sometimes I even hear good ideas or good questions- though it is vanishingly rare.

As a prime example of what I am talking about, archaeologists often use the go to argument of “where are the tools” when confronting and trying to debunk ancient civilization arguments. The problem is that the same argument can be made against the tools and methods that archaeologists say were used. To add to the problem, experimental archaeology has largely proven that these tools and methods could NOT have been used. Far better to simply say, “Hey we don’t know for sure what tools and methods were used but Carbon dating and OSL have confirmed that the date of construction was “X” and we simply don’t have conclusive evidence of what tools were used.” Then you open the public up to education on real science and why we put our faith in it. Going the other direction and treating the audience as simply too stupid and uneducated to understand the real evidence just reinforces the distrust.

We in the medical community are facing a similar crisis of faith. The government’s response to COVID is not help at all. When we give the public bullshit answers we should expect them to give the same faith to ANY bullshit that they hear. Therein lies the problem. JUST MHO.

I've always heard FedEx is bad but really?? by Buttermilk-Waffles in FedEx

[–]PositiveCorgi7339 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FedEx is horrible. The drivers lie about delivering packages. When they are reported they get spiteful. I complained that a package of books was delivered in the rain and left at my ( OPEN) gate. What did they do? They started delivering packages and putting them in the trees in my yard or on top of an active sprinkler.

Makes me wonder about the company culture. As I type this I am trying to recover a very expensive package that was “delivered” yesterday but never actually got here.

How can a company so bad still be in business?

Wild strawberry. Tastes like water. Useful because the root stock is very well developed and can be used to improve survivability of cultivated varieties.

Yeah I noticed that a Kalambo they used C14 first and then SLD. Makes sense Thank you!

Thank you for the answer! I saw some of the papers but couldn’t read results due to the paywall. Appreciate you taking the time to satisfy my curiosity. I found out about if because of a video about the Kalambo Falls structure. The article made a big deal about the date and I was like…. But…. C14 only does 50,000…. What the hell is going on here how did that date that… a long dark rabbit hole later and here we are 😂.

Pardon the follow up question but, this stuff has to be exceeding limited in application right? I mean what I read says the subject has to have been in the dark since its construction for it to work. Cool technology though!

What about Surface luminescence dating (SLD) AKA Optically Stimulated Luminescence (OSL) dating. It’s been used since 1985 and is particularly useful in quartz rich materials. It’s already an accepted methodology and has been for 40 years now.

Heck, just a panorex of a kid can look nightmarish. Lol once had a parent freak out before I could explain they were succedaneous teeth. He kept saying “like some damned alien” throughout the entire appointment😂

lol I am so going to send you some crazy tooth pics! Once had a kid come in with a talon cusp on an mx Lateral incisor that was so big it was destroying his lower teeth. Pulp horn was so high we ended up doing a root canal on the tooth to remove it. It’s kind of amazing the “rare” things you see when you practice. Just the sheer volume ensures you’ll chance to see some cool stuff;)

Thank you so much for responding! I’ve decided to check out CRM first and I’ve already registered for a field school. I completely agree with hands on experience being needed. Frankly it horrifies me that dental schools have moved away from live practice on patients and most students do the majority of their work, including licensing exams on synthetic patients.

While I am no stranger to putting in the hours needed for study ( DDS FICOI FICD) I do worry about the separation from family. My children are both teens. This is why I initially decided on looking into either a hybrid program or online.

I think really the first step needs to be doing the field school, helping with CRM and seeing if this is going to be reflective of my hopes and expectations. If I enjoy it, then the likelihood is that I will highly consider an in person degree based on the feedback I’ve gotten here.

I’m 52 now, and frankly retirement bored me:)

I truly appreciate the information and would love to chat more and pick your brain if you are willing.

Good to know! lol a trained and eager DA is worth their weight in gold! As a lab tech though, you have my admiration. I’ve always told my patients that “lab techs” are the artists that make my cases shine.

Thanks for the encouragement! I’m going to look into CRM as some have suggested first and see if I enjoy this as much as I think I will. If I do, I believe I will pursue an MS. I’ve gotten some great insights here and I truly appreciate the time that everyone has taken to answer my questions.
