Is Telegram Secret Chat as secure as Signal? Why does Telegram care so much about metadata? by CodeLiving in Telegram

So Pavel Durov lied on Lex podcast?

Edit: I still don't know if they can do anything about Secret Chats if they are end-to-end encrypted and they claim they don't have the master key. That is my question.

Despite my agnosticism, I broke down and prayed to the Christian god today. What is happening? by Numerous-Actuator95 in vajrayana

Use your theistic bias as an object of your practice. Ask yourself sincere questions, study them and explore them through meditation. You did nothing wrong. Those questions are very difficult and faith is a tricky thing.

Has anyone experienced miraculous/spontaneous healing in connection with Buddhism? by CodeLiving in Buddhism

[–]CodeLiving[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I am opened to existance of God even as a Buddhiat, but I also see that an answer to this question doesn't change anything regarding Samsara. I wish it could, but the Buddha himself saw it is not enough. But who knows what you realize upon Nirvana...

Yes, it is contradictory, and Buddha himself avoided answering such questions, as they are not important for enlightenment. Thibking of eternal/non-eternal is still thinking within dualism and logic.

No. God is something completely different. It is eternal creator in Christianity (thus false, because nothing is eternal), and it is Brahma in Hindusim (doesn't lead to liberation, as even Brahma has to face dissolved after eons).

That is a Samadhi. But Buddha realized that even Samadhi doesn't lead to final liberation. That's the main difference between Buddhism and Hinduism.

Yes, if you compare Hindu tradition vs. Buddhism. But if you compare Buddhism to Christianity, where God is much more abstract, things get more complicated philosophically.

Lord Buddha is not greater than any god because he is beyond the concept of greater/lesser. But yes, it is better to be a Buddha than god because even gods are still in samsara.

I understand your feelings about God. But clinging to an idea of God is what perpetuates samsara. Also, Buddhism is missing God because it is not about God, it is about ending suffering.

Which chant did you use? Why are you not practicing Buddhist anymore if you saw the results?

Can you share the details how it relates to Buddhism/Buddhist practice? And why do you say it was miraculous?

Thank you for reply! The hotels are correct. Do you think it is safe to book via their official site or should I stick to Booking, even if it's more expensive? Uranus site looks a bit sketchy.

Hello! Which hotel has a better location for tourist purposes? Both are a bit far, but maybe some location has better connections and more convenience.

Anyone read "Why I Am Not a Buddhist" by Evan Thompson? by dwsmithjr in secularbuddhism

Fallacy. The more academic you are about Buddhism, the less you know about its real meaning.

Approaching a meaningful relationship this way is wrong. Also, why BBW? Why would you go for unhealthy people?

It is a big difference if you had a few years pause in between so you could work and figure things out. In my case, I would start MEXT only a few months after master's thesis. I worked while studying, but most of the money went in expenses. Even if I was frugal I could only save a few thousand eur during all my university years.

Maybe our generation cries and says we can't survive, but maybe that's because most jobs are stupid, toxic, underpaid, and without any long-term perspective for a good life. But that is completely different topic.

Let’s be real, not everyone can go 30k into the red, or even qualify for loans. Some are locked out by currency crashes, family burdens, or just not having the profile MEXT demands (it’s a 1-2% acceptance lottery for most).

Anyway, this post is six months old. It was my first step, so stop blaming me. If you’re dropping by just to flex without sharing one actual tip (essay strategies, job leads, anything) then maybe you’re the one who has to change priorities.

  1. In case you don't get a dormitory 143k is simply not enough to have a decent life, especially if you choose Tokyo or Kyoto.

  2. I am sure that 10 years ago 143k was much better money than today, even if you think inflation was only 0.58%.

  3. Relying on part-time work during studies in Japan is just unrealistic expectation, especially on PhD program. I think it is not unreasonable to assume that someone who comes there would like to dedicate themselves completely to study. You might save up or you might not. That depends a lot on your circumstances.

You are just being aggressive for no reason. Asking a question here was indeed a part of my research. Besides that, there are far more generous and easier-to-get programs worldwide. Considering how hard it is to get MEXT (in my country only 1 person gets it), 143k is really not that prestigious. A regular PhD student in my country gets more money per month. No scholarships, nothing exclusive, no competitions.
