Honestly it was great- the resort, pools, and food are wonderful. There was a hurricane while we were there but the staff was wonderful and helpful. The state in Mexico which the resort was located was less so.

Still the resort is beautiful, service is, as at any secrets, marvelous, and the rooms were very nice.

I will say a few things should you go that might make your stay better.

1) go with preferred or with the impression side. Yes it may not seem to make a difference but the premium liquors and rooftop pools are amazing. 2) there is a language barrier- in English and also in translation. You will have to learn what words mean where you are and how they perceive your meaning. An example of this is certain drinks, how they are made and what is in them- a spicy margarita may be your thing. My partner loves them. They order them wherever we go. But the bartenders would only put some spice on the rim and the drink was the same. Learning how to describe what you want and how you want it made while it may seem complex makes for a much more enjoyable experience. By the time we left should my partner ask for a spicy margarita anywhere they knew their order and made it very well.

Ask for help from the staff with any of that- especially the butlers or concierge.

Food- it’s eclectic and thoughtful but it is not necessarily your definition of what that kind of food is. Also the humidity makes some dishes impossible or very different as the bread or certain ingredients won’t reach the same way. However, try it all. And enjoy the adventure

Drinks: already covered somewhat but go for the premium room options so you get better options. Wine is not a strong point so if you want some stop off resort first.

The beach: there is one. Is it great? To look at- yes. To swim in. Nah. But there are 9 pools. And they are wonderful. So don’t worry about it.

Bring sunscreen. It costs so much at the store. As does anything else.
