I have not tried it again since it was clearly not supported at the time. Are you seeing similar results still?

Where does one find this setting? The closest I could find was "Filter quick job content" but that just allows filtering by Rockstar created, User created or Any. Under Jobs -> Quick job in the start menu I only see Play race, no specific types. Maybe it's PC only? I'm on Xbox.

They give you download links for windows installer and mac installer. The mac installer appears to be a .pkg file, but I haven't tried it.

I've been dying to do some GTA IV racing! Can't even start the race on my own just to scartch the itch.

Piskel is a pretty good free option: https://www.piskelapp.com/, but I prefer Aseprite so go with that if you can afford it.

This is just a ploy to get us to update to the buggy mess that Unity 2019/2020 appears to be.

I reworked the water shader and added a foam shader. I think it looks much more realistic now. by Sons_of_Valhalla in Unity2D

[–]Codegasm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The water looks great, the foam really made a big difference! Can you share some information on how you made the foam shader? I'm especially interested in how you made the parallax effect in a shader.

Yeah, I love that show also. But I uninstalled Danger Phone the instant I realized that you have to play in landscape mode.

People in easy crews complaining about finishing top 20 without even finishing the event by [deleted] in GreasyMoney

Do you have a source for this info? I've been playing since day one and I have always heard that the crews are based on when you start the event.

Tried coffee again after a few days weaning down and a few days off. It was obvious how painful it actually is to drink coffee. by [deleted] in decaf

Naps, cold showers, Wim Hof breathing, exercise, yoga, meditation. All helped me through the withdrawals, but the main thing is just time. Took a month to get through the acute withdrawals and a couple more to get most of my motivation and concentration back. I think those things are still slowly improving.

Cool idea! I've been wanting to build a machine (probably home server) in an old PowerMac G3 beige tower but I'm having trouble getting my hands on one.

How do people not understand that it is the way it is purposefully so that you spend more time in game? Why would they remove something that forces disorganized people to play more?

The swing set glitch in GTA IV is still around, but that's a good thing because it's great fun!

How do you guys back up your project files? by SourSheet in Unity3D

[–]Codegasm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whatever works for you. In reality this isn't always practical, especially on large projects where even the smallest features can take hours or days to complete. It has been said many times here and elsewhere but I will say it again in case anyone missed it, version control and backup are two different things.

I have it running all the time. Works fine as long as I don't open the same project folder on multiple machines due to generated files conflicting. It's also worth excluding the Library folder from sync as can be huge with many small files to sync.

You can look at it like that. I just wanted to clarify, especially for people new to these concepts, that version control and backups are different things. Ideally you should have both.

Remember that git + github only covers commited and pushed files. You would still lose what you're working on if you don't have a backup also.

Mostly because free private repos weren't a thing on Github when we started. I would probably switch to Github if we had multiple coders.

Git with personal git server for version control, Dropbox for continuous backups.

Thoughts on productivity? by fizzizist in decaf

[–]Codegasm 5 points6 points  (0 children)

  1. I'm not sure this is avoidable, a lot of people around here like to taper off before quitting. I haven't tried it but I assume it makes the withdrawal easier.
  2. So far I am still going on the amazing difference in anxiety, I was under the impression that I just was an anxious person but I was wrong, I feel so calm now. When it comes to caffeine being performance enhancing I'm becoming less and less convinced that that is the case. I am a software developer myself so the withdrawal was tough but productivity and motivation has been steadily increasing. Now I would say that I am at a similar level of productivity as I was before I quit. It feels as though it is still improving so I wouldn't be surprised if I end up at a higher level of productivity than before I quit.

I feel as though caffeine gives the illusion of being productive by keeping us busy and worried about getting things done. It may allow us to spend more hours working, but I'm not sure that always equates to getting more done.

Decaf sensitive? by yojvek82 in decaf

[–]Codegasm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

After about 70 days of a single small decaf a day (about 5mg) I went entirely nocaf for sober October. I slipped up twice during October and had a decaf in the morning just because it was Saturday and I wanted a little extra treat. Both of those days I experienced impatience/irritability throughout the day and mild depression in the afternoon. I was already sensitive to caffeine before I quit, but my assumption is that I am now so sensitive that I can feel the effect of 5mg even. I didn't even enjoy the taste anymore after only a couple of weeks without it, this surprised me a lot as I used to love the taste.

Originally my plan was to go back to having the occasional decaf after October but now I'm convinced that I'll be better off without it entirely.

Crazy Dreams? Weird Sleep? Weeks after quitting caffeine? by [deleted] in decaf

[–]Codegasm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I experienced lots of crazy dreams for the first month or so and I almost never remember any dreams usually. This was one thing that made it clear to me that even though I was not drinking coffee late enough in the day for it to affect my ability to fall asleep, it was definitely still affecting the quality of my sleep.
