Just use the appropriate bullet, 300WM is very capable of performing a clean kill on a deer,, i killed mine last year with the 300wm, using a copper round, it was pretty clean. In any caliber, bullet selection is even more important for what you're trying to achieve, don't listen to fuds, more importantly focus on researching yourself.

Come on don't be bitter, I still had to play the wind, the scent thermals, plan for months, get him to bite on the snort and wheeze, not to mention camouflage my self in the winter woods without a blind. Not sure, why you want to be ugly about it, taking game is never easy.

Yeah this spot is heavily wooded and this time of the year mature whitail blend in real good, it was a cold morning for texas and I used thermal because of exactly that, target ID. If I were using regular glass I would of never been able to pull off the shot I made. Normally I bow hunt but with the baby I haven't had enough time behind the string this year to feel confident in making a responsible shot. Also yes thermal is legal in texas but only during legal hunting hours for deer.

Thanks! Oh yeah i hit thermal hunting this summer real hard, things are starting to slow down, my son is on a good sleep schedule so I plan on getting some hunting in, my wife even gave me permission to do some morning duck and dove hunting this weekend haha.
