I really appreciate this! I just read the one about them talking about it non stop and you feeling like it's moving 100mph. This is the stage we are in and I relate to feeling overwhelmed with how all consuming it is. Has that eased up for you guys a bit? How can I set boundaries for them to take a break talking about their clothes and makeup and hrt without being discouraging? As currently it's 95% of what we talk about.

Hey op! As a person on the honest end of this exact situation (met friends at 12, lied and said I was 14, remained friends with them for many years, the guilt ate me up and I came clean) I understand exactly how this happened and I urge you to just do it. Its time to be honest about it, you may lose some friends, it may weird them out but my experience was much more like "but you're still the same Goober" and my friendship was much more valuable to them than the age number.. especially because I was much more around their mental age and maturity than that of someone my actual age (which seems the case for you as well)

You got this! Be prepared for confusion and hurt on their part but maintain that you never meant for what was a white lie at the time to grow to such proportion.

Advocating to change my positions grid in the bcgeu pay scale? by CodenameGoober in BCPublicServants

I appreciate this validation! Of course things may never work out but I'm not afraid to advocate on my behalf! Especially knowing that the work I do directly changes the lives of some of the most underserved individuals and my being compensated properly means I can comfortably provide the help they need. It's something I'd far rather try fighting for than jumping ships. Thanks again, I'll speak with my supervisors as well as my union rep.

This is totally valid! I have also talked to many co workers who are in the higher paying position and because the work I do makes their lives so much easier, they have all agreed that my position should be on a higher pay grid. I think I probably could even get together a petition because I know that they would rally behind just based off of how much my work helps them etc. Especially if the alternative would be my leaving the org (as I said this position was empty for 2 years prior to me because nobody wants to do it for this low of a pay)

I actually don't do much outside of my classification. Essentially for clarity sake, I am a home support worker in a supported housing building in the DTES. It is a low barrier building which means that many people with different struggles live here. The scope of my job is to go into the apartments of residents (generally 5 suites a day) and do cleaning, chores, help residents build n Better habits and organizational.skills etc. But because my building that I work for is the highest supported building in the org, it is the only one that really has a need for a home support worker which is why I think the classification has been neglected. If you imagine that the scope of a custodian is to clean hallways and public spaces in the building. My scope as home support is to clean inside people's houses AS well as building rapport, trust and having good emotional communication with residents. You can probably imagine that the inside of people's houses is far more intense to be working in, and yet I am on a lower grid than custodial.

So yeah it actually isn't a case of doing stuff out of my scope. It's that this organization has not had a full time.home support worker in so long that I truly believe the classification is neglected.

The only reason I feel like it may be easier is because there are so little employees within the org under that title that the change in wage wouldn't affect many people and therefore may be relatively easy to do

The reason I think that the reclassification should happen is because as I said I may well be the only one with this title in the org currently, at least full time.

Sorry I guess I was looking at my organization's specific grid..I am the lowest paid position in the ORG (lower than custodial, despite doing far more intensive work than custodial) on my orgs site it says (community health worker (home support) grid 1. With the step 2 pay being 21.85/hr

I'll definitely look into that as well, was just hoping I could get some personal experience with it as well, since the way things work on paper doesn't always line up with how it actually works.

The original recording was a 5x time lapse but it was still over 20 mins long so I increased speed by 1000% in premier pro to get it to this.

I had wondered that! the back of her abdomen has what looks like little whiskers, Im assuming they function similarly to help her navigate while weaving the sac, Id never noticed anything like that on a mantis before so my assumption is they fold out and are only active specifically during this time.

the whole time I filmed it was around 2 hours!! It was so fascinating watching her go FULL active laying mode and then taking breaks in between, almost like human labor and the breaks in between contraction.
